Short story: Life and Legacy

In the silence of a newly inhabited room, among the ordered chaos of cardboard boxes that hold the vestiges of a former life, a man discovers a hidden treasure: an old photograph, slightly faded by the passage of time, in black and white. The image reveals a charming, youthful-looking woman dressed in the fashions of the 1930s. The man, captivated, immerses himself in the contemplation of the photograph, lost in thought until reality claims him. Wanting to share his discovery, he approaches his teenage daughter.

-Daughter, look what I found.

-What is it?

A photograph of your great-grandmother.
