Linux vs Windows: Which is the best operating system and why?

Recently I came to conduct a survey through the Telegram application, specifically in the channel whose name is "La Guarida Friki", under the participation so far of 20 voters, to know their opinion on what is the operating system (Windows vs Linux) I have is more convenient as a user and why you have to use it; and is that among the various options to choose many came to lean towards one in particular. A result that we are going to see and analyze right now, so without further ado let's get started.

Screenshot of the survey.

The results of the survey have been ordered as follows:

42% - Windows is compatible with all the drivers and software I use.

16% - I choose/use both operating systems out of necessity or taste.

11% - I choose Windows because I consider it to be the best/easiest operating system to use.

11% - I choose GNU/Linux because of its philosophy of use.

5% - Windows is the only operating system I know.

5% - I choose GNU/Linux because it is easy to use.

5% - I choose GNU/Linux because I want to learn new things or I am a computer scientist or the university requires it.

5% - Don't know / no answer.

0% - I choose GNU/Linux because it is compatible with all the drivers and programs I use.

0% - Neither of the two.

The first place gives us to understand that Windows is the most used system compared to Linux but the curious thing is that this system shares a workspace with the latter, that is to say, they give us to understand that several users have a Dual-Boot on their hard disk, so to do daily or specialized work they must use Windows.

In conclusion, it can be said that GNU/Linux can call the interest or fascination among users but since Windows is easier to use in all aspects is what makes it popular, making it positioned in the first place. And that is something that Microsoft's marketing department knows very well how to do in order to get its product to be quoted among the population, and that unlike the different GNU/Linux distros it has yet to learn or create.

What do you think, do you agree with the results of this poll, and which option would you have voted for? Leave your comment at the end of this publication.

Without further ado, we'll see you in the next installment.

I vote for number 1 and 2. Drivers for Linux can be a real pain. Yet, I use Linux for both work and my personal activities. I'd say I'm a better Linux power user than a Windows admin guru. But WSL is a life-saver. You have both OSes at once and benefit from the best of both worlds.

That's right my friend. And which of all the Linux are you using?

Many. My file server is a native CentOS. As WSL, I have Debian on my Surface tablet and Ubuntu on my work laptop. At work, the servers I support are Ubuntu or CentOS. They all have advantages and downsides. I wouldn't say I have a favourite. It's a pity that the CentOS project is practically destroyed but I'm hopeful that Alma Linux would be a good replacement. I haven't tested it myself.

This is interesting. I just use LinuxMint 19.3 on my laptop, and it will be unattended by 2023.

For me window with all options including software is valid. Although I don't know about Linux as I didn't have exposure for that. Window operating system is convenient everywhere so we use and give favor to it. This is Microsoft real success in centuries.
