A few weeks ago when I was walking through the aisles of a drugstore chain (one of the largest in Venezuela), there I noticed that they were selling a box of colors of 12 units of the Estol brand. I was totally unfamiliar with this brand except for its name because I had seen it on social networks and the times I passed by the same place. I decided to buy this presentation of 12 pencils because I found it attractive for several things: 1- the price of 3$. 2- the thickness of the lead which is 3mm. 3- it comes with a free graphite pencil and a pencil sharpener.

After buying it and leaving it stored for a while among my belongings I decided to use it when I found a drawing that I could use its narrow range of colors.

How was the experience?

I used it and I must say that it was disappointing because the lead usually breaks when you are coloring or sharpening the pencil itself, which makes the size of the pencil considerably smaller. On the other hand, as you are painting the lead releases a lot of dust that soaks into the paper easily, making it dirty and damaging your work. And as for the sharpener, it can break because it is made of plastic -it happened to me on another occasion when I bought one that also came as a gift.

The verdict

In short, it is not worth buying, not even for school use, it is better to buy brands like Crayola or Crazyart.

The drawing plus the coloring

And as always I will leave you with the process of the elaboration of the drawing:

To begin with we will do the sketch as usual with the help of the 3H pencil.

Then we mark the lines with a black ink pen and remove the graphite.

We paint the body of the character with the black color.

Finally we apply the color red on the pants and yellow on the buttons. And in the background, light blue.

And that's it! We are done with our work 😃 What do you think?

I hope this will motivate you to do it. And remember you can comment at the end of this post, I'll be reading and giving you feedback. I also appreciate all the support received from all of you.

Without more to say I'll see you in a next installment.

Until then 😎👍.
