Thanks to the Internet we are in an era where everything gets to know very quickly, ranging from any news fact that can be sad or not, to the most interesting and anecdotal in any area of human society, or in given case can simply be humorous and / or entertainment; and in the latter is that many of us as in my case we got to know about this series that was released by Netflix very recently. "The Squid Games" is the series that is in fashion, and it has been because it tells the story of a group of people who decide to join a clandestine game in which a considerable amount of money is distributed only to the person who is the winner, but to achieve this they must literally fight for their lives.
This kind of argument is not new, I could cite two productions among many that are almost the same, one is starring Arnold Schwarzenegger, in The Running Man, where a group of people who are accused of committing crimes before society must fight in a bloody battle to the end to preserve their lives, in which in turn each of their actions are broadcast on a television program in order to get tune in based on the morbidity of the viewers. On the other hand, we can also mention a Japanese movie called Battle Royale, a film production that shows a fight to the death between several students of the same class of a Japanese institution, in which all of them are left to their fate on a desert island.
As you can see, this makes The Squid Games not stand out for its originality in its approach but rather to the diffusion, not to say almost instantaneous, of the same users (usually very young people) on the Internet who are very attentive to what happens on the Netflix platform. Of course, it does not mean that the series has no merit and to be fair I must say that it does have interesting things such as its photography, direction, scenarios and performances. But the most outstanding among all these features mentioned above is its direction, since the person who was in charge in the position of director knew how to connect us with the world they wanted to show us but also to have us as viewers to the expectation of what could be speculated about the fate of each of the characters and feel at the same time that we could not abandon them at any time. But another thing to take into consideration is about its message being this the most important thing that is nothing more than wanting to show the worst that the human being has when he has to fight before others to achieve what he wants, leaving aside the empathy and the noblest feelings to reach the top and get the prize, all this promoted by a group of people who have fun at the expense of others (something like when we see this kind of productions?). And maybe the worst of all is that they sell us or even want to remind us, depending on how each one wants to see it, the idea that in the end we are at the mercy of an elitist group of totally depraved people who have fun at our expense to make us fight among us until the end in any aspect of life, be it social, political, economic, religious, etc., but in the case of the series it is for the need of money; to explain it better, let's remember the elite in ancient Rome with Caesar at the head watching all kinds of people die, from gladiators to Christians, fighting and tortured until the end.
This has been my interpretation but I leave room for you to share your opinions in the comments box, I would be happy to read them.
Without further ado, I bid you farewell until the next installment. See you later.
