This was a view outside the Osaka Aquarium Kaiyukan which was a pier. I always like how the sunlight is reflected by the sea, giving it a sparkly feel. One of my favourite photos to take is the reflection of the sun by the sea or the sun passing through clouds. The common denominator here, the sun :) Have a sunny, happy day, wherever you are!
I'm craving for some chocolate chip cookies and am reminded by my baking last year when the never-ending lockdowns started. One thing that I am grateful for with all the staying home is that I was forced to cook and bake. The more I do it, the better I get at it. It feels good to be able to make my own and practice does make things perfect :)
As I played around with the camera's focus function, it was nice to be able to change focus of the front object to the back object. I do not know what flower this was but I saw it while walking around at the temple in Kyoto the last time. As I focused the tree, there was a climber plant on the trunk. I do miss my travels.
It is nice to be able to give away ❤️s that is worth something.
It is also interesting to see how the number of ❤️ co-relates to the earnings.
Does it give an indication of the author's credibility? Maybe. It does help in a way to decide who to give the ❤️s to.
Staying home
I might have missed the boat but I still would like to join in the Curation Duo #1 hosted by both @wakeupkitty and @heartbeat1515 . Am not really sure how it works but one will never know if one doesn't try. It is a wonderful effort by the both of you and I appreciate it. I think that is the thing that is missing since the changes took place. It once had but I don't feel it no more. The soul.
@heartbeat1515 mentioned in her post that: "*For* *Curation Duo #1**, I would like to read your* ***thoughts, feelings or experiences*** *about the* ***current pandemic, Covid-19*** ***through poetry.***" https://read.cash/@heartbeat1515/curation-duo-week-one-through-the-screen-2cdb3217
I gave haiku a try for this. I read that haiku goes with just 3 lines, in a 5-7-5 syllables order, with a total of 17 syllables. It doesn't have to rhyme. The theme is usually related to nature I think but I am not sure. I may be wrong but it is still worth a try.
For this case, lets just say that I am going with a haiku-ish poetry because I seriously do not think it is haiku. Here goes...
Home, they said before,
Is where the heart truly is,
But, which home, I ask.
For some, it is not,
Some moved out, far and away,
Home away from home.
It is the best place,
To stay safe, stay well, indoors,
But, for how long more?
Please don’t get me wrong,
I love staying home, indoors,
Doing things I like.
But I do miss things,
Things we used to do freely,
Without fear or fright.
At the beginning,
It was truly horrible,
Fear of the unknown.
Everything, felt nuts,
Everything, surreal, unreal,
What it was, don't know.
Surgical or fabric,
What is good and what is not,
Does it matter still?
Glued to the telly,
Was most of what we could do,
Watching, praying, hope.
It was quite nice though,
When people came together,
United, as one.
In virtual meetups,
Globally and locally,
Brought tears to most eyes.
Lost jobs and lost cause,
Frustration, sadness, worry,
Lost time and lost lives.
It truly hits home,
When people we know get hit,
Hanging on, praying.
It has not ended,
Not sure when, will it ever,
Things have changed, for sure.
So near yet so far,
I miss my dear family,
I miss the outdoors.
I miss the pool, parks,
I miss swimming in the sun,
I miss free breathing.
Life and lives have changed,
For the better, or for worse?
No one knows, really.
Ignorance, or not?
Its conspiracy theories,
Just mind boggling.
Lockdowns, on and off,
Numbers, are going up still,
Rules are still in place.
Where did the year go?
Or years, from the looks of it.
Disappeared for good.
Do we vaccinate?
Can we trust them, can we not?
Do we, will we not?
Waiting for the day,
To go out without worry,
No hesitation.
The end is not near,
Staying home is still the best,
While we wait, till when?
Thank you for dropping by.
I appreciate it. I appreciate you.

I remember back in the days when pencil colours are my go-to art medium. I still like colouring with pencils and now with the watercolour option. It is easy to control and unlike a paintbrush, precision is easy with pencil colours. I should get back to it soon. It was fun back then when there was a weekly mandala colouring contest. The good ol' days.
They bloomed for me again and these rain lilies truly lived up to its name. It rained suddenly in the morning and as the flower was facing outside, I captured the back of it. It is nice to see them bloom in this hot and rainy weather, which is the kind of weather for them.
One of my favourite photos when I visited the Kiyomizu-dera temple in Kyoto, Japan. The weather was just nice, though a little gloomy but it was perfect for walking to and around the temple. Peaceful and serene.
Lady's fingers or okra, one of my favourite veges, stir-fry with garlic and a sprinkle of sea salt or a few dashes of oyster sauce. Sometimes, I would add some cabbage too for added natural sweetness to the dish. I love vegetables and prefer eating them over meat, any day.
What is your favourite?
With all the space expeditions that are going on now, wonder if there will be a time that we meet aliens as neighbours and friends?
A happy Wednesday to you!
There is deliciousness in simplicity.
Just seasoned with some turmeric and salt, pan fried to deliciousness... salmon and trout fillets. I tried not to over fry to maintain their juiciness and they were pretty delicious with rice. Linner is done! Yummm. Happy Tuesday wherever you are!
Do you know this guy? There used to be just a few of them. Each with a different name, different skills and power. But come to think of it, there are so many kinds of them nowadays.
I made a card last 2 weeks for my brother who is a fan. I searched online and found one that I could follow, draw and colour (https://coloringdrawing.blogspot.com/2019/08/cartoon-ultraman-coloring-pages.html). Am quite happy with the way it turned out :)
Looking at the bright side
Sometimes, it is inevitable. As much as we pray and hope that everything flows smoothly and gracefully, shit happens. Most times, it is not within our control and even though we try to avoid it, or thought we did what we had to do, to avoid it, some may say that destiny is as such that it will happen no matter what. No matter where we are, no matter how much we may have prepared, no matter how much ground work we have put into it, no matter how careful we are, shit still happens.
When it comes to destiny or fate, I can't help but think of the movie "Final Destination". In that movie, a small group of people thought they had escaped death but death slowly crept up to them, one by one, in the order that they should have died in a plane crash, one that they managed to escape.
When shit happens, it is hard not to feel ***despair***. It is human nature, isn't it? If one loses his or her job, and suddenly, there is no more ***money***, no more source of income. Many live from hand to mouth, what is earned is what is spent. There isn't enough for savings, let alone to feed the family.
We have heard, watched and read in the news how some who couldn't take it anymore, and decided to take their own life, in hopes to end it all. But when one does that, they leave behind much pain for those who love them. It becomes imperative that we must always look at the brighter side of things to avoid ourselves from getting sucked into depression, that may lead to such an outcome.
What can one do in any situation? If one loses a job, then we find another one? I guess that is the only option but of course it is never that simple. Jobs can sometimes be hard to come by, that is if we are choosy. If we don't mind, we can certainly find any job that is available.
The bright side? Maybe a breath of fresh air with a new job, once one is found although there is no guarantee that one can find one fast enough. But, it opens up more options, calls for more pressing thoughts into what other options there are.
Or when one is unhappy with the job they are in, a good question to ask is, why does the person then, still stays in that job? There must be something that is holding that person back and that the job is still bearable, no matter how bad it is? A job can be very stressful, or it can be very mundane, or perhaps the bosses are horrid, but if we truly dislike the job, then, the one thing we should do, is to find a new one.
But if we are not quitting the job or we can't find a new one, instead of slugging through it every working day of our lives, we must find that bright side, there must be one, even a teeny tiny one? Number one, I think, would be the pay. The job pays and we need the money. Look at the bright side then... at least we still have a job and we get to put food on the table.
Sometimes, all we need is to look at the bright side, to help us to keep going, to keep moving until we find something better. And while we are at it, instead of getting sucked into the negativity of the job, we might as well focus on the positives to make the job a better place to be in until we find a new one.
Its like Rapunzel stuck in a ***tower***, unable to escape, but she kept growing her hair long, singing at the tower to keep herself entertained and happy, until she finally could. But then again, the reality is that a new job, may not be better anyways.
When someone dear passes away after a long battle of sickness, we may be upset, we may not comprehend, but you know what, it is a good thing because they no longer need to suffer. Or when someone passes away suddenly, from lets say, a heart attack, hey, the good thing is, it was a quick death and the person do not need to suffer for long.
How about accidents? One can be as careful as they possibly can, driving within speed limit, turning on the indicator as required and making sure that he or she drives at least a few meters away from the car in front. Imagine, there is a road work in front and all traffic is directed to the fast lane. While all the cars slowed down, following the traffic to go past the road works, suddenly a car behind hits a car in queue with full impact, just because the driver was either drunk or dozed off. For the car which got hit, a passenger died due to the impact and the driver had serious injuries. Guess what, shit happens. Or fate as it was written.
Whenever something bad happens, whenever I think that life is so unfair or question why do the bad things happen, I need to remind myself that there are many things to still be thankful for. It is easier said than done but we must always remember to look at the brighter side of things.

My very first googlyeyes and it was a happy one. Never have I seen how these eyes can change and give a totally different feel to an otherwise serious or plain things. Ah.. look at those adorable googlyeyes. I am reminded of them, thanks to @sh33la. Thank you. #MyGooglyeyes
There is something about stones. Stones like these, each are unique with its colours, inclusions, waves and minerals. When we touch them, they feel cold to touch and when we wear them, they can change in appearance, sometimes becomes shinier, sometimes duller, sometimes become darker, sometimes lighter.
This is a four season thousand layer phantom, usually comes in mixed colours and I like to rearrange them.
Happy Mother's Day to all mothers! :) #Stones
It was a beautiful sight this morning when the flower bloomed. I have never seen its petals spread out so wide and then I realised it was because the sun was bright. The wonders of life and it was beautiful to see.

That little something
All of us have that little something, that makes us feel good. A little something that is our form of release, our form of finding happiness, our form of finding sanity in this crazy world as we go through the whirlwinds of life.
It is something we need in our lives, it is something we owe it to ourselves and most times, forgotten as work and problems suck the life out of us. It is something we must find time and make time for. Sometimes, we live in search for happiness and if we can make time for it, there is a chance for us to find some happiness, even if it is just for a little while, just for a little bit. Every bit counts although there is no guarantee that we can find it, but at least we try.
There are many forms of that little something. Some find joy in doing art while some sing their hearts out. Some just eat and indulge while some immerse themselves in hours of gaming. Some prefers to find a quiet space and work their crafts or woodwork, while some read or write. We do the little somethings because we find ***comfort*** in them. It recharges us and gives us sanity in that moment and space.
Whatever that little something may be, it is something that we enjoy doing. It may not necessarily be something explainable to others on why it brings us joy but it is something that drives us and gives us energy. It could well be something that takes up a lot of time but we don't mind just because we like doing it. Sometimes, we do need to tell ourselves to just spend a fixed amount of time doing it because work awaits. But we look forward to it after a hard day's work.
If we take writing as an example, we write because we have a story to tell or perhaps we write just because we needed to let it all out or it could be just a straightforward reason of wanting to make extra ***money*** or in most cases, crypto money. Some earn more, some may not earn any at all. Whatever the reason may be, there is always a good reason to write and it can be done anywhere at any time. It can be written down on paper or it can be typed digitally on a mobile or computer.
Each of us has a story to tell, a story of our past, news of our present, a hope for our future and sometimes a story of our untold life in the form of dreams or it could be writing about nothing much. We can be writing about the sun and the moon or a ball in the garden or just ramblings about our day.
Each of us, are going through the life that we are living in and we experience bittersweet memories daily, some more bitter than sweet while some may choose not to remember because they are not worth remembering. But some, it is not a choice for us to remember or forget. Each is our own to tell and one that we cannot compare with another, no matter how similar they could be.
Just like the ***tree*** of life, we each are unique. We grow differently, our branches and roots pave their own ways and direction based on the the nutrients that we get or lack of. There is no one branch or root or leaf that is the same as another tree's and that is what makes us unique. With that, comes different stories, different experiences and different emotions.
But we do need to be mindful that what we write is a reflection of who we are and how we are feeling. Sometimes, we mask our true feelings, just because it feels better to do so. And this goes back to the way we write. There is power in words and as much as we feel like releasing, when it comes to posting in a public space, it can be dangerous. Sometimes, all we want to do is to share but the choice of words is important. It may not be obvious at first but words do reflect emotions. One can read anger just as one can read joy. One can read frustration just as one can read happiness. We still do need to be careful with what we write.
Although it is supposed to be a form of release, there will be days when we don't feel like it. The brain, the mood, the everything, just don't feel like it. And we can't force it unfortunately. It is how it is. For example, when it comes to writing, you can stare at the screen for hours, maybe you may get to type a little but that is it. Words get stuck, wondering what to write next. Sometimes the mind can just go blank. And it is hard to force it. Unless of course, if you are writing an essay in an exam when there really isn't much of a choice because you either write to pass with flying colours or fail.
When it comes down to it, if words don't flow and nothing comes to mind, when the brain goes blank and the mood got lost in the woods, lets take that moment to read others instead or look out of the window to find some inspiration. A writer's block is real. But hey, we can go find another little something that makes us happy.

It feels sad not being able to send some love for articles that I read.
Everyday, the sky looks different, it is like a new painting for us to enjoy and appreciate everyday. Never do we see the same sky. Some days are pastel hues and some days the colours are so bright like this one yesterday, which had orange written right there. I was thinking of Ed Sheeran's song, the moment I saw this. "I see fire...." It just pumps you up for the day.
My current favourite and surviving succulent - Pink lady or also known as turtle vine. It was a gift and was given to me a few weeks ago. I am happy that it is still living :)
It grew quite tall and I snipped the tip and replanted them. It continued to live. The leaves are tiny, soft green and the back of them is purplish pink. Sweet sweet little ones.
I tried my hands to fry up some calamari today for dinner and I was quite happy with the result. Cleaning the squids was an experience in itself . And then with beaten egg and a mix of corn flour with wheat flour and spices, the frying was another cool experience when we hear the sizzle of the oil as the calamari pieces turn golden. Not bad for a first try. Yummmm. More to come :) #Homecooked
It is still good to be here
I was thinking just this morning, about this place. This place, which I was invited to, inspired to join, by the amazing ladies - @wakeupkitty , @gertu13 , @heartbeat1515 . Coincidentally, @wakeupkitty had written very recently, with the first sentence being a question "***Is it worth writing****, still worth posting on read.cash?*" https://read.cash/@wakeupkitty/readcash-is-a-database-by-now-df046b13
"*Worth*" can be subjective when it comes to non monetary items such as time or when one indulges in one's hobby, for example, writing or painting which may not have a sufficient return. One's worth may not be another's worth. And the same goes with the phrase "*worth it*". What I deem as worth it, may not be the same reason why you may deem as worth it or not worth it, especially when the conditions and factors are different.
As I looked through the articles I have written on this platform for the past 9 months, I realized how much I appreciate that our articles or posts do not expire here and the same goes with our short posts in noise.cash. I can still send funds to an article written months ago, of a writer, new to me, whom I might have just discovered. I feel this is so important because an artistic, creative expression should not have an expiration. One should be eligible to earn for all articles written today, tomorrow, yesterday, last month or last year or even a few years ago.
And by being here, I appreciate the fact that we can write just about anything and everything under the sun or the moon or the skies, as long as they are not offensive, of course and follow the simple rules set by the administrator of this platform. The skies the limit, some say or the world is the oyster, whichever one prefers. There was no need to conform to a structure or form. The only thing is, it may seem a little quiet sometimes and crickets' chirp can be heard quite loudly.
I like that there is a platform such as this one that allows us to earn in a cryptocurrency that is strong and getting stronger by the day. It is nice to know that there is a potential to earn BCH and that 1 unit of BCH is currently worth more than USD900 instead of a few dollars or some others, in cents. Potential, is the key word and hope is the other.
The experience is different here. If you are one who prefers a me time when it comes to writing, this place is for you. Although some may not earn as much as others, or some none at all, for one who enjoys writing, enjoys typing, just being able to pen down thoughts and all the words that are whirling in the head, it is good to be here. It would have been better to be able to earn but it is not for us to decide. Life is never fair, I am learning to accept it.
Many things can never be explained. Many has decided to stop writing here due to various reasons and many more decided to continue.I guess, it goes back to our priorities. There is not much to lose really. We get to release steam and we get to practice too. There is much to learn, if only we allow ourselves to. But of course, if we are not earning as much as other platforms, a question comes, why then, do we continue to write here?
The ***truth*** is, there were times when I wondered if I should just stop writing here. It felt frustrating at one point when nobody reads or comments but then again, when I thought deeper into it, why did it matter to have someone read or comment? It used to matter when that was a way to earn here. Engagement was part of the expectation to earn but too many abused the system. And so, the system changed.
I can understand the need for the changes and I am glad it happened because I think many of the abusers, if not all, are no longer around (I hope). But I blame them for the changes. The initial system was appreciated by many genuine and sincere members.
Abusers et al, they have no place here. People read, people know. Plagiarism, cheating and lying are big no-nos, no matter where we are. It is a big no-no in all teachings and religions. So, why do they still choose to do it? I suppose, only they can answer the question, and to the Power above and only they can answer to their own good conscience, if they have any.
The negatives aside, at the end of the day, it all goes back to our priorities, really. If it is to earn and if one is not earning as per expectation, then, one can choose to pack up, put the ***cap*** back on the bottle and leave. One can leave by their own two feet or one can choose to take their ***bicycle*** and cycle away to somewhere else that makes more sense to them. It is their choice.
If the priority is just to write, to let go, to write anything and everything under the sun, without a care of an audience or givers, then this place is a good place to be. Have no expectations, just write. Just write our hearts away and feel contented. Who knows, one article or many articles might just hit the right note or notes. If not now, maybe later. Just keep writing, keep hoping and keep going. If one chooses to leave, then do not be far.
Because you know what? It is still good to be here.

*Mobile phone timer was set to 10 minutes but this writing or ramblings took about 40 minutes or so. Woops.*
One of those days
What do you do when you don't feel it? When nothing entices you and nothing moves you? All you want to do, is to lie down on your couch and do nothing? What do you do when nothing motivates you? Not even to do the things that usually makes you happy?
Why do we feel this way sometimes, I wondered? It is not explainable. I guess, that is how humans are, with all the complexities of mixed feelings and emotions, unexplainable thoughts and actions.
But when the nose kept running and throat kept scratching, and all you think about it, "I feel like crap." You expected to be better the next day but no, it got worse. And clinics and hospitals were out of the question, not now, not any time soon.
Ah, so that was why. It was the nose and the throat. Plus, the body felt funny. Weird almost. Something out of the body experience. I tried tasting. Phew, I can still taste. I tested my breathing. So far so good.
We hope for some ***luck*** to come, to at least chirp us up a little. But when nothing comes, all we do is to continue to lie down and do nothing. I slept and slept for most parts of the day. And it has been 4 days. It felt like lost time, wasted even.
I stared at my laptop, hoping to write a little but my fingers didn't feel like typing. Monday blues maybe? I clicked a little, here and there to read and give. But that was it. Even this, was a surprise. Maybe a little sign that I was feeling better?
I had to reschedule an appointment tomorrow. What a bummer. An appointment that I was thinking about for the whole weekend. But I can't possibly meet face to face and spread my germs. It wouldn't be fair to them, not now, not any time soon.
I didn't feel like dancing or watch people ***dance***. How sad is that? I, one who enjoys moving with music, totally do not feel like moving at all. I just feel like lying down and close my eyes. I wasn't expecting to sleep but slept I did.
But when I woke up, I didn't feel any better. I took a shower, hoping things will change. Well, maybe a little. How about watching a ***clown***? Nope, I think that would make it even worse. Clowns are scary, come to think of it. I can never understand why clowns are invited to children's parties. They do make children cry sometimes.
It is just one of those days, I guess. Hoping for a much better tomorrow.

It is always good to learn some sewing skill, there is much that can be done with a quick fix or mend. We can save money, we can prolong the life of our favourite garments, we can repurpose unwearable garments and much more...
https://read.cash/@marblely/sewing-skill-56dcca0f
Sewing skill
I first learnt how to sew during my school days as it was mandatory. It was coincidentally called "Living Skills" class. At the age of 15, there wasn't much feel to it and we didn't appreciate the significance or importance of learning such skill. We just learnt as we were taught.
We learnt the different stitches that are commonly used such as the running stitch, invisible stitch, blanket stitch and back stitch. We learnt how to mend and we learnt how to sew up something like a blouse with written patterns and templates. Some liked it, some didn't and after that, all was forgotten.
As I grew older, I realised how useful and important sewing skill was. I couldn't remember the complicated ones like sewing a blouse with patterns and templates but at the very least, I could fix a dropped button on my favourite shirt or pants. I could mend a hole, shorten my pair of new pants and I could re-hem a fallen hem of my favourite pair of skirt.
It was a realization that one of the best things about sewing, apart from being able to create something, we can save our favourite garment by fixing or resize them instead of discarding them, or repurposing them into something else when the garment is no longer wearable. I liked that I could save my garments and continue to wear them.
It is also one of the most frequent thing I do nowadays whenever I sew. I think I fix and mend more than sewing up something new. And not surprisingly, sewing to mend and fix is a craft and art by itself. It is mathematical too sometimes or we can end up with a mis-measurement like in the case of zipper fixing.
Some mending is easier to handle with hand stitches while others, a sewing machine is a great help as the stitches are tighter and the work is faster although, everything can be hand sewn. There is a certain therapeutic experience when we hand sew.
And today, the internet is a great source of information. We can learn almost anything with the numerous video tutorials available online for free. If I wanted to use the sewing machine to sew a button hole, I just search for it and learn from there. If I need to fix a complicated hole or fix some complex looking zipper, there will be various ideas available for reference. But it does take quite some patience and perserverance to give them a try because they do not necessarily work for us.
I like that I could repurpose an old bedsheet into a summer dress, or into a cushion cover. It helps in saving too and for garments that hold special memories, they can be cherished longer.
Sometimes we succeed and sometimes we fail.
Sometimes we win and sometimes we lose.
And it is through failure and defeat that we learn.
We learn to be humble and we learn humility.
We learn to be patient and we learn to persevere.
We learn from failures and we learn to learn. #Reflections
A little blue bunny, crocheted last year with acrylic yarn. It started with an egg shape before the eyes and ears were attached. This bunny has no legs, and so he sits in the cup.
Bunnies, although cute, are considered pests in some places but they are still adorable :) #Crafting
Freewriting...
It is an interesting exercise. When the mind goes to places it has been to or explore new places of wonder. When the thoughts *tease* us in ways that bring glee to our hearts with imagination that goes beyond our limits. We could dig and *study* deep into them or we could stay as shallow as we want to.
Freewriting allows our minds to fly *free* like a bird in the sky or locked up in a cage. It is all up to us. We can write in *short* sentences, long ones or in twisted sentences that nobody could understand. We could write a story, our personal story, about anything and everything or perhaps nothing at all.
Sometimes, words flow like running water but it can also trickle from a drying pipe. When it trickles, don't fret. Just take a look at the sky and who knows we might a spot an *eagle* or a blackbird or perhaps an object flying by. We can then freewrite about them.
If we are seated by the window, we can take a look outside and look for sources of inspiration. See picket fences? Write about it. See a dog or a tree, write about them. If we are indoors, we can take a look at the objects around us and think of a story. It doesn't have to make sense. It is freewriting after all. If we have a cat, we can pause a bit and scratch the back of her ears or the underside of her chin and listen to her soft *purring* while we type away.
For an added experience, how about enjoying our freewriting with our favourite cuppa or a plate of our favourite *spaghetti*? Marinara, Bolognese, Aglio Olio, Carbonero, Pesto, take your pick. Don't like *spaghetti*? Choose a snack that you like or just freewrite about it.
You can freewrite from your *phone* or laptop, whichever you prefer. I like the sounds of my keyboard and a bigger screen than my phone, so the laptop is my choice. I always imagine typing away on an old fashioned typewriter, you know the kind that goes tak-tak-tak-tak. I do like the feel of pressing the keys and sounds of them tapping away.
Take our phone or laptop, go to our favourite spot. Set the timer and type away, whatever that comes to mind. Most importantly is to have fun and let our imaginations run wild but we can choose to walk tamely too, whichever suits us.
Lets enjoy our freewriting and join the Freewriting community. https://read.cash/c/freewriting-c99e

2 years ago, I drew this for a steemit contest of butterfly art. An amateur drawing but I could still remember the day I sat down with my box of colour pencils, reminiscing my ancient school days of drawing these. I still drew the same :D #Reflections
