Last Q4 of 2020, i tried out a few new and upcoming point and click adventure games for the PC.
(In the spirit of Monkey Island type of point and click adventures, hence the banner)
They are:
The Rewinder 山海旅人 试玩版
The Rewinder is an adventure puzzle game, based on Chinese mythology. You play as Qi Yun, the last known Rewinder, who can communicate with spirits and explore other people memories to alter the past.
point and click adventure game set in traditional Chinese rural environment + some folklore/traditional practices (ancestral worship things)
it has some puzzles, a little crafting mixed in, and it dabbles a bit in 'time travel' (sorta like a flashback)

Tohu - hand drawn point and click adventure ala Machinarium
Experience a brand new adventure game set amongst a world of weird and wonderful fish planets. Explore beautiful environments, solve intricate puzzles and discover the truth about a mysterious little girl and her mechanical alter-ego, Cubus.
i don't really care about the story, but the animation is very detailed and beautiful! i spent a lot of time trying to click each element (especially the ones with 'eyes) to see if they would respond...
Tohu reminds me a lot of another point and click title called 'Machinarium', the protagonists are also 'speechless'. the cutesy and hand drawn esthetic is present on both, but Tohu has more animations i think.

Encodya - cute cyberpunk noir point and click adventure game
"Encodya" is a visually stunning point-and-click game tackling the themes of tomorrow, based on the award-winning short film "Robot Will Protect You."
It is set in 'Neo Berlin', year 2062. With the look of 80's Hong Kong. so it's basically a crossover!
The game is really beautiful! It looks '3D' even though it only actually is 2D, developer says the final release will have 3D characters on a 2D environment. (i wouldn't have known the difference if i haven't read it)
item spawning is randomized but will have the same use case (i played the demo twice and some items spawned were unique to each run)
issue i encountered with the demo is the terrible load time per transition scene (when entering a different area or interior location). i hope this will be resolved on the final release.

Nine Witches Family Disruption - funny WW2 Nazi Occult point and click adventure game
"When an occult German WW2 division releases an ancient curse upon the world, a supernatural problem is going to require a supernatural solution. Take control of two playable heroes as they embark on a comedic, alternate-history adventure with a truly original story (99.9999% guaranteed)."
Nine Witches is a point and click adventure, with a 'theme' similar to the first Indiana Jones, mixing Nazis with the occult arts. The game engine seems similar to Thimbleweed Park? As with that game, you can change characters on the fly. I don't know any more as the demo is quite short and does not reveal much about the plot.
