7 different types of intelligence have been defined. One of these 7 is essential to obtain success in your personal and business life and that I will be talking about today. If you do not have them all or you do not perform naturally in several of them, do not worry, firstly nobody is good at everything and secondly, even in those that you rate yourself as mediocre downwards you can improve, everything with effort and practice is possible. Let's get to it:

  • Linguistic-Verbal Intelligence: People who do very well in school. Excellent readers and writers, they perform well in essays, in professional life they can be excellent lawyers, novelists, journalists...

  • Logical-mathematical intelligence: People which are excellent in all kinds of calculations and logical problems. In the academic field can be usually teachers and researchers. Or work for large corporations. Good engineers, programmers or accountants.

  • Body-kinesthetic intelligence: the intelligence of athletes. They can become professionals in sports, dance, or business owners related to exercise and health.

  • Spatial intelligence: that of artists. They can become decorators, graphic designers, photographers, painters, and architects.

  • Musical intelligence: who does not know someone who seems to have a gift for music? They are good singers or playing instruments, they can be professionals in the performing arts, members of a band or an orchestra.

  • Interpersonal Intelligence: that of communicators. This is very important for politicians, preachers, publicists, salespeople. You will need some of this because selling in life is a necessity and it is also a highly desired characteristic in a leader. In simple words, they are people who are very good at interpersonal relationships.

  • Intrapersonal Intelligence: it is the ability to communicate with oneself instead of with other people. Those who have this type of intelligence have control over their thoughts, and it is often called emotional intelligence. We all usually talk to ourselves with a kind of internal voice, but do you do it when you are afraid, are you threatened or angry to control your character and your reactions?

The latter is neither more nor less than the intelligence of success: for you to become successful in any area with another intelligence, you will need interpersonal intelligence. A simple example, to be a professional athlete you need to be concentrated and in control of your whole body, your movements and your reactions; If you are good at math but don't have enough intrapersonal intelligence, you will soon get bored and get nowhere in your professional life.

This is the 'one ring to rule them all' Why is intrapersonal intelligence so essential for those who want to succeed in business? Because it gives you willpower, it forges your character. Have you ever waited five or ten years to see your business flourish? Do you have the necessary patience or do you give up early and think you were unlucky or someone else was at fault? With enough intrapersonal intelligence, you will not be afraid to risk doing what others do not dare (and that is a great advantage in business), you will also know how to appreciate delayed gratification, remember that a business is not done overnight and that you could work several years without seeing a penny in your pocket.

Do you know people who did very well in school but who are doing poorly in their professional life? They probably have sufficient intrapersonal intelligence. Let me know in the comments.

See you soon.
