Unlocking User Status
Have you ever known what kind of social media user are you?
“A lot of people admit to behaving very differently in social media to how they behave in the real world."
-Rebecca Dye
Social Media contents attract different kinds of audience. They define and shape people's behavior towards social media platforms.
Below are the 12 social media behaviors according to Rebecca Dye. Let's unlock where you belong!
Ultras
These ultra people usually check social media numerous times a day, likely making it define the true meaning of life. In short, obsessed. They spend longer hours in engaging with Social Networks every day that some stay very late at night. They sleep with their phones and still wake up, checking their social media accounts the moment they open their eyes.
Deniers
I can say I'm partly a denier social media user. Deniers often tell that social media does not hold their lives but ironically get anxious without having access to it such as deactivating or deleting the account. I don't exactly know but maybe because I became used in using it and there's a lot of fun I can have here than in person.
Virgins
We've all been like them once. They are those new ones from the word itself where signing up is a difficult thing for them as they are not used with the social network system. Nowadays, I believe that most of our parents and grandparents are the best examples of virgin social media user.
Peacocks
People entitled them in simple term jokingly as 'fame whore'. Hahaha! They are those who always love to get the highest number of followers as well as the likes and shares of their posts. Some even uses tricks like auto likes.
Lurkers
Lurkers are also known as 'observers', who chose to hide in the shadows of social media. They don't really participate in conversations, trends, and issues. Just carefully watching how others handle theirselves in social media
Ranters
They are those who always fill our newsfeed with their rants about everything that concerns life may it be a situation or a person.
Changeling
Rebecca defined them as the Chameleon of Social Media who are very opposite in real life. New personalities are easily adopted that's why you will never know what their real identities are. Social media is a great tool for them to express their feelings and opinions.
Ghosts
Well, these are not those who ghosted you -wews!-. Ghosts are afraid of flexing their identities, therefore, they chose to remain anonymous with the use of unrealistic or famous usernames and profiles. Security is highly valued.
Informers
Good for information dissemination especially the important ones. As such, sharing is absolutely effective whenever there is someone who badly needed help financially, spiritually, and even an actual help. They usually share the latest trends, issues, or something interesting that people will really admire specifically online friends.
Approval Seekers
Here's mine! Funny to say but we are those who usually check our posts wether someone has agreed or not. If none, we start to worry and try to think of something wrong why people did not even react or respond. Well, it was said that approval seekers link it to popularity but I disagree. Hahaha! Can't it be just because I want to inform and inspire others but turned out they're not?🥺
Quizzers
Can also be considered as attention seekers in my own view positively sometimes. In order to start a conversation, they keep on asking random questions to stay updated.
Dippers
The last one, people who are not always online. Their posts take days or weeks or none at all.
So, which one are you?

Perhaps, I am an ultra. I check out social media platform all day but I don't usually post pictures or status. I just check what others post and be entertained by it.
