The Difference of Japan
As a Filipino, I can attest to the stark contrasts between our cultures and traditions and those of other nations. If we intend to visit them and travel there, we must be cautious and familiar with their culture. For instance, if you go to their location, you might get locked up or you might not survive at all. A delicate and distinctive culture may be found in many countries, but did you know that Japan is one of them?
They accept the idea of hierarchy, which makes it recognized to have a high power culture. Their social structure demonstrates the dominance of parents over children, teachers over learners, employers over workers, and the older generation over the younger. When it comes to authority at work, the chairman comes in first, then the president, and finally the staff. Japanese people modify their language to the situation when speaking to one another based on their rank. As such, their bowing is a non-verbal communication of their respect. Bowing is 15 degrees for a casual greeting or apologizing, 30 degrees for a superior such as a client or customer, while 45 degrees for respecting the highest level of seriousness such as the president. Another example is not making eye contact when talking to a superior. As a sign of respect and formality, they also introduce people by using honorifics before saying their names.
In addition, the Japanese context culture is also high. They also employ nonverbal cues like body language, paralanguage, and body linguistic because they want to communicate with respect and avoid hurting the other person's feelings. In a formal conversation such as a business meeting, the formality dominates them. It is not a good impression for the host to immediately discuss his purpose, so maybe say hello to the meeting trip first or maybe pay attention to the weather. The chat about bills is never casual while you're among friends or family, which is the reverse of this situation. They feel at ease making jokes and laughing aloud, frequently employing slang or everyday expressions.
Our world full of diversity is not far from chaos if there is no understanding. Country pitted against country, fang against fang. Or perhaps from family to family. That is why maintaining and advancing the current state of peace requires effective and informed communication.
Thanks. Owe you big time!♡
