Fire Crossed: Safara's Downfall
Our eagerness sometimes to outsmart fate can be life-risking especially when we aggressively shatter the ways that are only designed to help us stay safe. Would you rather choose to stay trapped in the fire that hinders you from transcending your limitations as fate has been teasing extremely to the fullest or cross it with a greater possibility to get burned and turn into ashes?
Safara's pandemic life routine then have changed. Unnecessary hobbies were refrained and making money which was basically the goal prevails. On the verge of pandemic, she keeps on selling not just foods but anything that will do, and interacts with various people leading some good friendship. She was able to send money for the needs and medicines that made her father's situation way better than before until, an unusual day came. Safara can't feel her body that resting for the day is what she thought she needed. What's more bizzare is that, the foods she tried to eat are all tasteless and even the smell's gone. "This is odd."
Her heart felt a glimpse of nervousness. The messed up mind she used to have jump into random and numerous of conclusions from her weakening health maybe, up to her family's bright future that she always believe is on her hands. Even her heart stopped beating for a moment from overthinking. The world. The time. It's like the ticking of her room's clock has freezed for a while too where seconds, minutes, and hours can't escape to continue running as hard as they can. "No, no. This can't be. It's just some sort of fever which will only leave sooner or later."
And so, she ignored it, even though she hardly can't. Forcing herself to eat just to gain the strength in earning money somehow diverts the troubled mind and soul. "Well, it is surely because of the hardwork I did these past days that I only feel all the exhaustion today."
Sleeping made her feel somehow good. With this, she didn't hesitate to earn for the day despite headache and uneasy feeling. The customers have even noticed her unwellness that's why they advice her to take some break and relax. Having time for ourselves accordingly, must never be disregarded. Safara just ignored what they are saying and even release a laughter because of the thought that she has to outsmart fate given that it hasn't been actually good to her. However, as she tried to laugh it all hardly, everyone is alarmed when she fainted. They were hurrying to call for help and bring Safara to the hospital. Some of them weren't able to accompany her because the building is so full with COVID-19 patients that they have decided to just inform her parents and leave.
The health workers have taken care of her when she open her eyes and tried to leave convincing the doctor that she is completely fine so there is nothing to worry about. "You can't. You are positive with COVID-19 which is becoming worse from time to time."
From that moment, Safara didn't just heard those knife-like words slowly stabbing her goals and biggest dream. She also heard the defeaning and continuous sound beeping of the electrocardiogram and feel the numbness of her whole body. That's when she knew, everything is impossible anymore. Then everything's black.
My mind was filled with different ideas so I want to apologize if there are confusing nor unreasonable parts in the story. All I wanted to point out is an example reason these past years why we can't totally put an end in this choking pandemic. It's limiting us to make ways for our survival, thus, most of us break some of the rules which we can't blame others because the government's support can't suffice.
Thanks. Owe you big time!
