Kpop, short for “Korean Pop”. Kpop is associated with the word music and is popular to some people nowadays, especially to these people who likes kpop music genre.

Basically, it is still music but they were categorized as “kpop” because it is in Korean language and also bit different to any other type because of the language. I know many people are wondering what is with Kpop why many people likes it, and even older people. Well it depends sometimes on the beat of the music, people who are involved in the music, like the one singing the song or the lyrics itself. Let me give BTS as an example. Before that, I would like to share that I have mentioned them on my other articles:

For those who just read my article right now, and for those who don’t know BTS, I’m gonna give you few infos about them. BTS or Bangtan Sonyeondan, or when translated in English is, Bulletproof Boy Scout; is a korean popular boy group who are consists of 7 purely Korean members named Kim Namjoon, Kim Seokjin, Min Yoongi, Jung Hoseok, Park Jimin, Kim Taehyung and heir youngest, Jeon Jungkook.

BTS has already been making different genre of music ever since their debut. Even the three members, specifically the rappers; Namjoon stage name is “Rm”, Yoongi, stage name “Suga” , both are already an underground rappers, Hoseok, stage name “Jhope” is an underground dancer, means they have beenan underground performers and been into many contests and battles which is related to music. Even Namjoon and Yoongi are already making music on their own in their pre-debut years. Even Yoongi was already writing songs when he was young, around 13 years old(?), I’m sorry I am not that good at remembering some details, but he’s been really making songs since then, even though his parents are against to it, but those were from the past, him and his family are ok now.

BTS is known for their talents in writing, producing, and creating beautiful music, one of their works is “Spring Day”. “Spring Day” is dedicated to the Sewol Ferry tragic incident victims that happened in South Korea, victims who died and survived from the incident as well. If you search for the lyrics, the first line when translated in English is “I miss you”, which indicates that the person is not with the other anymore and is missing him/her. There is also a line in the first stanza which translated in English, “I’m looking at your photo” which is another confirmation that the person that he/she missing in the first line is not with him/her. That the person that she/he missing can’t be with them anymore since they only have of the picture of the person they misses, left. The first stanza ended with a line translated “Now it’s hard to ever see each other’s faces”, which clearly shows that they are not able to talk to each other again, because the other person is dead.

You see, some people likes kpop, commonly because of the beats that are catchy or even because of the people who sings that are attractive and good looking, not minding the music’s lyrics at all. But those stereotypes are being changed because of BTS, yes they may be good looking (even though there are still not satisfied with their looks and keeps judging them for their visuals), but it’s not just the reason why people liked them. It’s also related to their music and lyricism that encourages those people who are not confident about themselves, to love themselves, like their song or album, “Answer: Love Yourself” which was also their campaign for accepting and loving ourselves for who we are and be proud of ourselves. Because of that, they were chosen as a youth ambassador to speak in UNICEF last time because of their uplifting songs that brought people to be strong and to stand and speak for themselves. Another song of them is “Pied Piper”, a song which encourages the students to study and focus more on studying and not just (focusing) on them. Another song is inspiring and encouraging women empowerment, “21st Century Girl” and lastly, their song which encourages those people who were working hard 24/7 in their job to do their best and don’t think about the bad things that people say do to you, “Dope”. Those were just few songs that I really admire, their songs are too many to mention honestly.

All I can say is that, those 7 people, BTS, are a good reason why many people likes and admire Kpop so much. They have proved that language isn’t a barrier when it comes to appreciating, creating and listening to music. They are too good that sometimes they are being taken advantage of other people but they kept on spreading positive feelings and being humble no matter what, despite for having so many achievements. They kept themselves on the ground and the same people from the beginning, that’s one of the reason why people like them also.

Some said Kpop is big, but there are other people who said that BTS is bigger than Kpop since they have made many firsts as an Asian artist, specifically Korean artists. Although, no matter how other people drag them, they learned how to shut those people’s mouths and stood for themselves, with their ever loyal and brave fandom, ARMY.

If you want to know more about BTS and their achievements, I would gladly make an article about them and their beginnings, well if some of you are only interested. I have been having a writer’s block since last time and I can’t think of any topic until now. I’m still knew in writing in this platform and still figuring out on what topics would some people would like me to share and to talk about, so please bare with me… Thank you for reading!!!
