Atherosclerosis

It is a condition in which intimal lesions called atheroma are formed which may rupture to occlude the lumen of vessels.

It is caused by

Genetic factor

Age

Gender.

Moreover, Inflammation, LDL, lipoprotein, obesity, lack of exercise, diabetes also lead to atherosclerosis. which in turn causes Ischemia of the heart and death can also occur.

PAthogenesis:

When any type of injury occur in the endothelial cells then monocyte move here and change to macrophages, thrombosis may form here because of stickiness of the platelet and leukocytes.
