The song of the day:
Instant Karma!
Lennon had already started his solo career in the early 1970s, although he had not yet publicly announced his farewell from the Beatles. According to sources, on January 27 he woke up with a melody in his head. It all started with a conversation he had with Tony Cox, Yoko Ono's first husband, about the philosophical concept of "instant karma". Lennon then sat down at the piano and in just over an hour he played the song. Time to call producer Phil Spector, book Abbey Road studios and record the song. The only element that took longer was the bass part which took a few more hours but the song was done and over.
