Importance of Communication between parents and their child.

There are some kids that are not comfortable sharing or communicating with their parents. They always kept it by themselves. Usually, they seek help from other people, especially their friends. I think this is one the cause of misunderstanding in the family and problems in the society as well.

Parents should communicate with their children as often as possible. Children frequently avoid talking to their parents. They think that their parents would never understand. Talking to them regularly will help them feel that it is okay to share.

Sometimes, you should also initiate to open sensitive and personal things to them little by little. Let us normalize this kind of stuff. They are really happening. Usually, children don’t share things with their parents because they think it's too sensitive and awkward. 

For example, if a child is growing and reaching puberty stage, there are certain hormones that kicks-in and push them to explore their body. A boy masturbated for the first time will not tell it on his parents because it’s kinda awkward. This is where the problem may starts. He will find somebody that can relate to him, usually his friends. They’re both no have knowledge about it and if this will continue, conflicts with sexuality will occur.

Lack of communication in the family also links to different societal problems. Let take depression for example. People with depression don't share their problems with their parents. They face it all alone. They think that saying their problem won't ease the burden.

Also, the lack of communication in the family is one of the seen factors that affect the increasing cases of teenage pregnancy. Teenagers are curious about their environment. Without proper guidance, they may follow the wrong advice from other people.

Be a good listener. Always understand them. Don’t scold them if they try to open up and confess mistakes. They are still growing and prone. You’re here to guide them to be better person.
