For sure most of us knew the movie Ratatouille, where rats can cook fancy dishes and doing cool things. But in reality, there's no such thing. Most likely, we don't like rats and mice to be in our houses, feeling as if their our pets.
It's very dangerous to have them around, since its very well known that they carry unwanted diseases and worst, deadly ones.
What shall we do, to kill them or at least to scare and push them away?
First, be sure to be responsible and clean your surroundings as possible as may be. No garbage, no leftovers, and oh chocolates, don't just put it anywhere. Believe me, they really love chocolates! Even though they don't eat much if dark chocolates, they are still very attracted to it.
After doing so, but signs of rats and mice are still present, all we need is just around the corner or very easy to find. Yet, natural, simple and easy how to do.
Peppermint oil
Rats are seen to have a high sensitive sense of smell, using fragrant plants, herbs and oils are a good way of keeping them away. One such smell which they don't like is peppermint.
Just place Peppermint oil (On cotton balls) near where rats have previously been seen or where you suspected they reside.
Peppermint will instantly affect the lungs of the rat, killing them in the process. So as result, if they sense peppermint is around, they will leave. Seems like a poison gas for them.
By the way, it can also be bought via online stores.
Bay Leaves
Rats are attracted to the sweet smell of bay leaves, which is what makes them the perfect trap as Bay leaves are highly toxic to rats. Once ingested they will die.
Placing bay leaves in areas where rats frequent will help keep them away and of course, "at bay". Very impressive. I thought it's just best for cooking.
Onions
Onions, a well known vegetable, which have a pungent smell and one which rats and mice hate a lot. They will instantly run away from the smell, making it an effective method.
Before, I thought they like onions. But after some research, they really hate onions. Probably the red ones are more effective.
Just remove the outer skin of onions, before placing in various corners of your house.
Since onions rot quickly and can be toxic to pets at home. You would need to replace the onion every second day with a fresh one.
Black Peppers
Black Peppers, which can prove effective as it contains Capsaicin, which is the compound that gives peppers their heat. This heat is also a natural rat deterrent.
Just place some powdered black pepper in corners and areas where signs of rats and mice have seen.
Most of the time, I've found this one effective for me. Even not as effective to kill them, at least they've been push away and don't come back. They're just on our neighbor's house. Amazing!
Garlic
It seems that rats and mice, are zombies like or vampires.
Just slice the garlic into parts. Wrap garlic using gauze. Place the garlic package in an area that mice often go through. Let stand for a few days, be surprise that mice won’t dare to come again.
You can make your own anti-mice concoction by mixing chopped garlic with water. Spray it on mouse holes and areas they are usually seen.
You can also leave garlic cloves at the entry points of your home, as another option.
Durian
Durian, the infamous one for smelling so bad that some people dislike it. But for me, I really love the smell of Durian. It's not Durian, if without that strong smell.
The good thing, mice also hates the smell of Durian too. To be hated by mice, it means Durian really smells good and not bad at all.
As repellant, all we need is Durian skin.
Store it where mice frequently went; you can also store it under a table, behind a refrigerator, under washing machine or near a drain.
As feedback, you may also throw the whole Durian fruit, to kill the mouse or rat. How cruel is it? So that's what really scares the mouse. One Durian a day, scares the mouse away?
And the last on our list, but very effective for me.
Adopt a cat
Better try, if you don't have one. At least if your not allergic with cat's fur.
Just the voice and smell of a cat, will scare them away. It is also common that cats love to chace mice and rats, for happy meal. But for some reason I don't understand, some cats don't eat big rats, but at least killed them. I'll just buried dead rats, afterwards.
Rare occasions have seen that cats and rats or mice are best buddies. Playing together, eating together, and oooh sleeping together (Wonderful is it? But for sure, it's horrible). In case like this, just add another cat or cats.
Happy reading!
Thank you. :)
