Bag Salad is so Evil. Why, You’ll Never Buy It Again.

Healthy people seem to eat a lot of salad. I want to be thinner, so I really want to eat more salad.

Why not grab a little number of bags of prepared salad at the store, and store them in the fridge? It’ll be so easy to be thin now! Just open up one, throw it in a plate,Some come with croutons, And raisins! Cheese! Sunflower seeds! It’s healthier than fast food, and cheaper than any fast food. And so easy! WHAT’S SO poor about keeping a few bags of salad in the fridge?

According to Nielsen Perishables Group, packet salad sales have been rise about 7% every year since 2010, and according to IRI, houses penetration is approaching 95%.

But bag and packet salad is harmful, my friends. but why.

It’s expensive.

At the place I shop, a 10 oz. packet of prepared salad, “triple-washed” salad is $3.10. but you buy 3 $ fresh vagitables for making salad is 50 oz that means the pre-packaged salad is MORE THAN triple the price of the fresh.

Jo Robinson, writer of Eating on the Wild Side, told NPR:

“Many of these prepackaged greens salads and vagetables might be two or three weeks old. They’re not going to taste as well because this not not fresh, and many of their health benefits are going to be vanish before we eat them because proteen in salad is dead…

Bag of salads are clean with chlorinated water, the stuff that burned your eyes when you mistakenly try this water on your face.(So evil) Then they’re packaged with a mix of unhealthfull gasses called “modified atmosphere” in the ingredient list, to keep them looking fresh and increase their shelf lives up to a week or month. While that mystery gas good for Leaf but it doesn’t protect the nutrients in food… which is why an open bag of green salad goes bad in the fridge so much faster than fresh vagitables do.

This is also bad for the planet. It takes A LOT of tons water to make “triple washed” bag salad.

We’re paying for fast accessibility, though… not for quality. Laziness Which brings lead us to the most important reason bag salad and packed green.

It’s the symptom of a problem.

The main reason we’re fat is not that we don’t eat enough salad and greens. We’re fat because we’ve lost our relation to food. We’ all forgotten what it means to eat healthy foods.

In the 1950’s as few as 10% of Americans were fat By 2030 — 70 years after the era of packed greens and foods—more than half of Americans will be fat.

Bag salads may not be killing people directly, But it is actually ruining our real relationship with food.We need to understand what healthy food really is,Think for yourself the vegetables that go through many stages and chemicals,How can it be healthy for us?

But if you care about fresh food… if you care about your health and the environment and you can just find the time for an extra place to get fresh produce grown near the place you live… make the trip once a 3 or 4 days to keep the real thing in your fridge. It’s no burden. It’s a chance to joy the simple pleasure of washing, cutting, and serving something great. Do it to save some bit of money, to save the environment, or as something good for yourself.And if you can't do any of that, then do it for the people you love and care about.
