Parts of Coconut tree and its uses in our daily lives

In our town, coconut is the main source of income. People who live there have their land property where they grow coconuts, rice, and so on. When I was a child, I remember we have a land property with five hectares. Coconut trees and rice are our primary source of income. This is a big help to our family because we do not only get money here but also the benefits and uses of various parts of the coconut.

Coconut is called the tree of life and is unique compared to other trees and fruits because all its parts are beneficial. There is no cork in the coconut because its root to all its parts is useful. The coconut tree is a kind of palm tree with a single straight trunk and has been used for many purposes since prehistoric times. Because of this, the trees are widely cultivated in many places in South India for both commercial and home use.

Parts of the coconut tree

Some variety uses of each part of coconut:

  1. Root - Used in aching joints and so on. The young roots of the coconut tree are usually boiled and given to the sick to drink.

  2. Body - This in turn is used in the construction of buildings and houses.

  3. Leaves - Can be used as decoration in households. The leaf can also be made into a basket and the hard part of it is made into a (walis tingting) broom. It is really easy to assemble the sticks and tie them with a thread to make the broom. People make coconut brooms for both domestic and commercial use. It is also used in the construction of the roof of the house.

  4. Fruit - This is the fruit itself. Its white flesh is delicious to eat and the broth is also a good drink for the body. It can be eaten either raw or cooked, and they are rich in vitamins, minerals, and powerful antioxidants. Additionally, coconut milk is an excellent hair conditioner. You can apply the coconut milk to your hair and scalp and rinse after a few minutes. This will make your hair soft and shiny and improves the health of hair by reducing hair fall. The fruits can also be turned into coconut flour, its flour is often used as a gluten-free substitute. It is also a source of oil. A coconut shell (bao) can be made into a decoration or pulled out. Baskets made of coconut shells. The coconut husk can be used as natural scrubbers to clean dinner plates, cups, other vessels, and even the floor.

  5. Flower - Coconut flowers have many medicinal uses. They are an ingredient in many traditional remedies, especially medicines for new mothers.

There are many more benefits we can get from the coconut tree. That is why it is called the tree of life because all its parts are useful. Coconut is rich in nutrients and chemicals such as lauric and myristic acid, and also contains glyceryl esters of caproic, caprylic, capric, and oleic acid from its fruit oil. Protein, vitamins A, B, and C; nonyl alcohol; methyl heptyl ketone; methyl undecyl ketone; chronic, decylic, caprylic, lauric acids, I lecithin, stigmasterol, phytosterol; choline; globulin, galactomannan which in turn comes from the white flesh of the coconut. Protein, ash, saccharose; oxidase; catalase, diastase from coconut broth. It still has carbohydrates, vitamins B and C, Magnesium, and potassium.

One of the important benefits of coconut is its medicinal uses. Just like diabetes, sore throat, dry skin, diarrhea, smallpox, difficulty urinating, dandruff, hair loss, constipation, and many more. The benefits we get from the coconut tree are amazing. That is why during the pandemic, Virgin coconut oil is one of the medicinal uses that helped to reduce the chance that we will catch COVID-19.
