Being successful is what we all want, desire and aim for most of the time. We all search for what we need to do to be successful from time to time and look for new methods. However, the road to success can change for everyone. Each route and method may differ for individuals and may have a different effect on each individual. Considering personal differences, I have mentioned some features and techniques that will help us on the way to success in this article.

What is Being Successful? Why Is It Important To Be Successful?

Nobody aims to fail, success is a general goal desired by everyone. In turn, the definition of success can be quite variable. While some do not appreciate success unless it is a tangible reward, someone else may appreciate themselves every step of the way, counting every step they take towards that goal as a success. This is a situation related to our expectations and perceptions.

While getting 80 from an exam evaluated out of 100 sometimes does not make you feel successful, getting a single and highest score of 80 from an exam evaluated out of 100 can be considered a successful result. So when others got 90, 100, were you unsuccessful when you got 80 and / or did getting higher than others made you successful? We often define success as a result of our comparisons with others, our thoughts on autopilot can actually affect us quite negatively. In general, making comparisons is not a healthy attitude, so when defining success, not making comparisons and interpreting this situation on the result when we present the best version of ourselves is the healthiest attitude we should adopt.

Often people associate being successful with having a lot of money. If you are currently walking by a beach, see a house for sale and get information about the price, will you feel more successful when you think you have the power to buy this house? Success is the meaning we attach to our business and we try to make sense of our work mostly with money. This is not entirely wrong as we make money in return, but it is not just having money that is required to be successful. So I'll leave you with this little awareness: success matters, and success is not the skill of buying a beachfront home.

Success has tremendous effects on human psychology. These effects inevitably affect human well-being. Being successful has powerful effects on the brain; It increases testosterone hormone levels in both men and women and increases the activity of dopamine secreted by the brain. The dopamine hormone plays a powerful role in managing emotional reactions, and this is necessary to maintain and maintain both psychological and physical well-being.

The brain has a common "reward network"; Depending on the dopamine level, it forms the basis for all those great emotions we have when we enjoy delicious food, win bets, get a salary increase, or become successful. When success stimulates the brain's reward network by activating it, the brain positively records the cause of this event to release dopamine. When the brain reduces dopamine secretion to levels in daily life, it wants to experience the same thing again, so your brain wants you to be successful. And if you just start to perceive big achievements as success and therefore ignore the small steps you take, it's normal to feel like you're going through a big drop at this point.

The brain enters a period of deprivation, and that's why, just as an addict cannot enjoy daily pleasures, you may be missing your achievements by thinking that you are not successful. Being successful and being aware of your success are two separate things. In order to make this distinction, you can bring awareness to what you have and develop a sense of gratitude. At the same time, focusing on the moment during meditation allows you to see the achievements you have had.

To be successful, focus on what you do and what you want to do and especially what you don't want to do. Most importantly, focus on the present. If there was a chart and the place where you want to be on the right side of this chart, and on the left you don't want to be, which one would you position yourself closer to now?

To be successful, keep in touch with those around you. If you have someone around you who you have taken as an example for yourself or who has been successful in a similar goal before, learn about the process he went through. Be careful not to compete here! Your only opponent is yourself. Remember that everyone's path to success will differ and try not to make comparisons.

Our emotions are the most powerful compasses that enable us to interpret that moment, giving us a lot of clues about that moment. Be aware of your feelings and don't forget to get help from them. If there is something challenging during this process, focus on what you can do to feel good instead of continuing despite that feeling. Listen to your needs. Meditation, going for a short walk, or sharing with those around you are all instant methods. If you complain that this is a more permanent and general condition, you may consider seeking the help of a psychologist.

Listen to yourself and those around you, your family, friends, and teachers. Sometimes, feeling that you know the content of some conversations can prevent you from focusing on that content, but remember and listen to conversations that you don't focus on are valuable information you may encounter between sentences. Listening to yourself is one of the most useful habits in this process. The thoughts you set out on a journey and the thoughts during the journey may differ. New thoughts that arise during the journey may offer you the opportunity to catch short cuts or different opportunities, always listen to yourself.
