I am back for this challenge after two days. I'm already done with A, B, and C. Now it's D's turn.
1. Dark Side of the Moon
"Dark Side of the Moon is one of the biggest selling albums of all time, with reported sales of over 45 million copies worldwide. This album was from rock band Pink Floyd, and was also their most successful album too. Most artists nowadays will spend the rest of their careers selling such amount when Pink Floyd only had that number from one album.
2. Drake
Drake is currently one of the most popular recording artists nowadays. He had such huge streaming numbers with songs from each of his albums charting at Billboard Hot 100. In total, he had 10 number 1 albums in the US, including collaborative albums and even mixtapes.
3. Don't Dream It's Over
"Don't Dream It's Over" is one of my favorite songs from the 1980s, and was released in 1986 by Australian band Crowded House. It was a huge hit even peaking at number 2 in Billboard Hot 100.
In 2001, Sixpence None The Richer released their own version of the song which may have peaked at low position in Billboard Hot 100, but it was a hit in Asia. Miley Cyrus has a live recording of the song too with Ariana Grande.
4. Directioners
One Direction called their fans "Directioners". Back then, the boyband became one of the top music artists during their time, and scored the hits "What Makes You Beautiful" and a number of multiple platinum albums. The band is currently under hiatus for several years, and no reunion happened yet. When Zayn left the group, so many Directioners are heartbroken.
5. Dolores O'Riordan
Her name may not be too familiar to some but she's the vocalist of the 1990s popular Irish band, The Cranberries. I actually love her voice, as well as their songs especially from their albums "Everybody Else Is Doing It, So Why Can't We?", "No Need to Argue", and "To the Faithful Departed". Their biggest selling album was "No Need to Argue" which has estimated sales of 18 million copies worldwide. Too bad, Dolores already passed away on January 2018.
6. Dangerously in Love
"Dangerously in Love" is the title of the first album of Beyonce. The track "Dangerously in Love 2" was also on the album but the song was initially recorded by Destiny's Child (which Beyonce was a part of) for their "Survivor" album. It was not actually released as an official single, while the album has sold 5 million copies in the US alone.
7. Destiny's Child
I had already mentioned Destiny's Child at number 6 so I included them on this list. They're one of the biggest selling girl groups but they became controversial because two former members left, with two new members introduce, which the other one eventually left leading the group to trio, and even became more successful. The trio was eventually comprised of Beyonce, Kelly, and Michelle. The former two are original members.
8. D' You Know What I Mean?
"D' You Know What I Mean?" is a song by Oasis from their album "Be Here Now". Back then, there are so many anticipation for the new album which was released in 1997. It was a number 1 hit in UK. I remember seeing the video on MTV and it feels so boring because the song is around 7 minutes length.
9. Don't Speak
"Don't Speak" was a popular song during 1996-1997, and I used to hear that song often on FM radio then. It was from the band No Doubt from their hit album "Tragic Kingdom". It was their biggest selling album as a band, while Gwen Stefani eventually gone solo. The album has sold around 16 million copies worldwide.
10. Daydream
"Daydream" is actually the second biggest selling album of Mariah Carey, actually her second diamond platinum seller in the US. With number hits such as "Fantasy", "One Sweet Day" (with Boyz II Men), and "Always Be My Baby", she had made it with her 11th US number 1 hits.
Thank you for reading, and huge thanks to my sponsors below:
The only band that's familiar with me is One Direction haha 😄
