Phuket is the largest island in Thailand. The island is arranged like the picture on the side of the blue Andaman Sea. The island is very popular as a tourist destination due to its beaches and luxurious resorts. Its a luxury resort Trisera. A popular restaurant ‘Pru’ is within this Trisere. The restaurant recently received Michelin star status. It is the first and only Michelin star restaurant in Phuket.

Pru Restaurant;

The demand for restaurants as well as worldwide restaurants is not less. There are many famous restaurants around the world. There are various rating systems for rating a restaurant. One such is the Michelin Star. The France-based Michelin Guide has ratings of restaurants from around the world. They send their visitors in the guise of shoppers to various restaurants. They come and check the quality of the food and review it. Six to eight different visitors are sent to a restaurant. Ratings or star marks are then given according to their opinion. Zero, one, two and three stars are given according to the standard of the restaurant from the Michelin guide. The identities of the inspectors dressed as buyers are kept secret.

Michelin star power criteria;

This rating of Michelin Guide is not new. Rather it is about a hundred years old. Interestingly, Michelin was a wheel company. In 1889, two brothers, Andre Michelin and Edward Michelin, started the wheel company. For the convenience of motorists, they arrange a free travel guide. It would have given the necessary information about the journey. These included a map, the name of the place to change the wheel, the name of the place to take petrol, the address of the hotel on the way, etc.

After 1920, they started listing restaurants. From 1926, they started giving star awards according to the standards of restaurants. Currently, the list of restaurants in Europe, America and some Asian countries is given in the Michelin Guide. Restaurant merchants are eagerly awaiting the names of their restaurants on this list.

Last November, Michelin published the 2019 Thailand Guide. Pru Restaurant has received the star sign award. This is the first time a Thai restaurant outside of Bangkok has received a Michelin award. Pru is a Thai word. This means that it is a place where the forest comes and merges with the sea. Basically it refers to fertile soil. However, according to Jimmy Ofrost, the restaurant's head chef, the word PRU refers to the English Plant Raise Understand. These are the words of the restaurant philosophy.

Michelin cards hanging on the front door;

The restaurant started its journey inside the Trisere Resort in February 2016. Its environment is as beautiful as it is fascinating. Hanging a Michelin star red card in front of the main door. The interior is small but very tidy. The place is usually reserved two weeks in advance, otherwise it will not be available. There is also a nice place to sit outside.

Pru Farm Pru Jumpa;

Pru's specialty is its uniqueness. The food here is all Thai. 75 percent of them are from Phuket. Although in the beginning they followed the 80/20 policy. In other words, 80 percent of the food came from Thailand and 20 percent from foreign countries. Later, they started growing the food brought from outside on their own farm in Tresera. It is a 20-minute drive from Trisera. Named Pru Jampa, the farm is spread over an area of about 96 hectares. Its 6.5 hectare area is cultivated with various fruits, vegetables and spices, the rest is dense green forest.

The farm looks a lot like a nursery, surrounded by forests. The vegetables grown here include tomatoes, carrots, lettuce and onions. Fruits include oranges and lemons. Besides, chickens and ducks are also reared in this farm. There is also a natural lake here. Different fish are cultivated in it. Prur waste materials are used as fertilizer here. Different types of flowers and bamboo are brought from the forest. These are used as decorations in restaurant food. In addition to farm food, there are various seafood dishes on the Prur menu.

There are different types of food menus here. There are six courses and eight courses. The menu was changed after a few months. There are regular innovative food arrangements. If you want to eat here, you have to spend a lot of money. In addition to the price of food, service charge and tax have to be paid by the buyer. The cost of taking six courses will be 12,330 Bangladeshi rupees. On the other hand, the price of eight courses is 15,412 Bangladeshi rupees.

The biggest contributor behind the success of Pru Restaurant is its head chef Jimmy Ofrost. The 29-year-old chef is a Dutch citizen. He has been at Trisera for 6 years. He has previously worked in cooking in various European countries. He also worked for six months at Gagan, one of the best restaurants in the world. Pleased with his work, Tresera's managers gave him a place to build his own restaurant. Since then, the journey of Prur.

His home in the Netherlands was just 2 kilometers from the sea. So he lived in the middle of the sea since childhood. Now lives in Phuket by the sea. Jimmy Ofrost has been inspired to work on the beach since childhood. And from that inspiration, Michelin brought the status of a star to Pru in two years. According to him, it will have a more positive impact on tourists arriving in Phuket. He thinks Phuket will also become a place of more interest.

Chef Jimmy Ofrost;

Ofrost thinks Na will also inspire other chefs who have found her Michelin star. Because most chefs in Phuket are a little scared of tourists. Tourists come from different countries. Many people are worried about whether the restaurant will work if Thai food is cooked for them. Ofrost believes that Pru will overcome their fears. Because the food here is completely Thai.

Jimmy Ofrost is not only a chef, he is also an innovator in food. "We try to give guests a wonderful experience from the moment they first set foot here until they leave," he said. Evidence of his words matches well. In just two years, it has become an attractive destination for tourists and the media. This is a new place of interest in Thailand.

There are 39 such villas in Trisere Resort;

It would be unfair not to say anything about Tricera as well as Pruke. It is the best marine resort in Thailand. It has 39 villas. Attached to each is a swimming pool. There are also arrangements to enjoy the beauty of the Andaman Sea. Tourists come to this luxurious resort and spend their time like a dream.

Getting a Michelin star is definitely an honor for any restaurant. But this is not the end. Buyers are also expected to visit Michelin-based restaurants. If the value cannot be maintained, the star is also taken away. As embarrassing as it is for the restaurant, at the same time its future is uncertain. But Pru Michelin will also get the honor of two stars and three stars, this is the expectation of its directors.
