Immeasurable Love

How do you measure a person’s love? Through material things? Through the countless times that they’ve said “I love you”? Through the years, months, days, minutes, seconds that you’ve been together?

            How? How exactly do you measure an abstract word that despite being immeasurable most people aggressively demand an answer?

            Even I do not know how. But when asked I often ask back, “Have you ever tried jumping through an abyss to measure how deep it is?”

            “No—wait, so your saying that your love is immeasurable like an abyss?” they said.

            I looked at them sternly and said, “Like jumping through an abyss, I haven’t experienced love so stop asking.”
