The announcement of the "bridge" between Optimism and Dai will be one of the positive sentiments for MakerDAO and Ethereum.
With this connecting "bridge", reportedly there will be a faster withdrawal process.
This cooperation system will be implemented in 2021, if it refers to the announcement that was distributed.
MakerDAO's Dai stablecoins will be strengthened through collaboration to update this Layer-2 (L2) in terms of speed and cost.
Optimism, the platform that supports Ethereum, will provide this technological update.
Support for this technology was announced in the March 9, 2021 announcement on the MakerDAO forum.
One of the founders of the company Bellwood Studios, Sam MacPherson explained, MakerDAO will publish Dai on the L2 Optimism platform.
He added,
The "bridge" through the collaboration between Optimism and Dai will provide quality improvements in the implementation of several things. "
He also stated that currently Optimism requires a seven-day lockout period when it wants to withdraw funds back to Ethereum Layer-1 (L1).
By working with MakerDAO protocol, this period can be shortened, thus making withdrawal times faster.
This is due to a mechanism that makes withdrawals faster by locking the Dai at L1 to mine the Dai at L2.
In addition, at the same time, this mechanism provides access so that these stablecoins can be removed or burned for quick access to Dai on L1.
Positive for MakerDao and the Ethereum Ecosystem
The mechanisms for creating and verifying these two types of dai are described in detail on the MakerDAO forums.
After this explanation, MacPherson added,
"All of this will be a game changer not only for the Maker protocol but also for the Ethereum ecosystem as it provides a fast, anonymous, decentralized exit from the optimistic rollup (system construction on L2)."
With this "bridge", MakerDAO has the opportunity to become the main exit from Optimism.
Optimism itself explains that the solution through this collaboration is in a "cool and elegant" way.
The announcement stated that implementation would be carried out in the near future.
However, the fast withdrawal system will only occur in the third to fourth quarter of 2021.
Optimistic Rollups, one of the construction systems on the L2, has been tested by Synthetix, which recently announced the transition to L2 in mid-January 2021.
Uniswap is also reportedly following the majority of DeFi protocols to use the Optimistic Rollups system in this year's V3 update.
Optimism has announced a $ 25 Million funding by Venture Capital firm Andreessen Horowitz at the end of February 2021.
