Today when I am doing a morning walk, I came across a neighbor who is loading the car with nasi lemak. Nasi lemak is a national dish in Malaysia that consists of fragrant rice cooked in coconut milk and pandan leaf served with anchovies, peanuts, boiled egg, cucumber, and sambal.

I remember 20 years ago, an RM1 nasi lemak is normally enough to make one person feel full after eating and it comes with anchovies, peanuts, boiled egg, lamb curry, cucumber, and sambal.

10 years ago, the RM1 nasi lemak portion became smaller but still come with anchovies, peanuts, boiled egg, cucumber, and sambal.

5 years ago, the RM1 nasi lemak portion remains the same but the sambal is no longer given freely. I remember the Chilli price double when GST implement.

Today an RM1 nasi lemak only consists of rice, a boiled egg, and sambal.

Perhaps next year RM1 nasi lemak will only be left rice and sambal?

It is clear how much our country ringgit have devalued just by looking at the food.

Meanwhile, in Singapore, there is still 1 to 2 dollars price for chicken rice while my country's chicken rice have risen to 6 to 7 ringgit.
