All this picture is from liveauctioneer, using to show how the 1st series coin looks like. Normal circulation coin does not look as good as this.

Bank Negara Malaysia (Malaysia National Bank-BNM) was established in 1959 under the Ordinance of National Bank, with an authorization to print the national banknotes. However, the Board of Commissioner of Currency Malaya & British Borneo remained officially until 1967. The Malaya currency unit, Ringgit (equivalent to 100 cents ) was adopted. The value of each Ringgit was set to 0.290299 grams of gold. The exchange rate for the old Malaya dollar was set to 2s 4d, On 16 January 1969, British Malaya Dollar tender was discontinued. The Malaysian currency was fully implemented. In 1967, Malaysia first issued coins consisting of 5 denominations (1 cent in copper, the rest 5, 10, 20, and 50 cents in Cupronickel). The observe featured the Parliament House of Malaysia and a crescent moon and star, representing Malaysia's Concept of Parliamentary Democracy, and Islam as the National Religion. On the reverse is the hibiscus, the national flower, with the word "Malaysia" and the year of minting. These coins were designed by Geoffrey Colley.

Also, some of the 1st series coins have Geoffrey Colley mint mark.
