During my stay in Penang, I read on a blog about Tai Tong Restaurant famous for its Dim Sum. So I decided to visit it to have my breakfast.

For those who don't know what dim sum is, it is a large range of small Chinese dishes that are traditionally enjoyed in restaurants for brunch. dim sum dishes are made of seafood, chopped meats, or vegetables wrapped in dough or thin wrappings and steamed, deep-fried, or pan-fried. A traditional dim sum brunch includes various types of steamed buns, such as cha siu bao (a steamed bun filled with barbecue pork), rice or wheat dumplings, and rice noodle rolls that contain a range of ingredients, including beef, chicken, pork, prawns and vegetarian options. Many dim sum restaurants also offer plates of steamed green vegetables, stuffed eggplant, stuffed green peppers, roasted meats, congee and other soups.

The restaurant will give you a card to keep track of what food you take, then you visit the different food counter to get what you want to eat.

After looking around, I decided to get myself one plate of shumai, one plate of rice noodles roll and one spare rib.

The spare rib is steamed pork spare ribs with douchi, garlic and chilli.

The rice noodles roll is steamed rice noodles with prawn filling, the prawn is big and fresh. It is served with sweetened soy sauce and ikan bilis sambal.

The Shumai are steamed dumplings with pork and prawns topped with crab roe.

Overall, I enjoy the breakfast. It is nicer than those in Kuala Lumpur.
