Today dinner, I revisit SRK Borneo noodle house to try out another dish. This restaurant specializes in Sarawak dishes, highly recommend you visit it if you ever pass by Desa Setapak.
After looking at the menu, I order the Sarawak taste red wine chicken mee suah which is sold at RM12.90 per bowl.
Based on what I read, this dish has its origin from Fuzhou who stay in Sarawak. It is a tradition to celebrate on the first day of the Chinese new year and on your birthday with a bowl of Fuzhou Red Wine Chicken Mee Suah.
The red wine this shop serves is a used experienced traditional homemade method and brewing. They make the wine by fermenting cooked white glutinous rice that has been mixed with Chinese wine yeast and red yeast rice for 30 days. The red yeast rice is what gives the wine the red color.
When they serve the Sarawak taste red wine chicken mee suah, it comes with a small bottle of red wine if you need more kick in your meal.
