Tracing the currency history of pre-independence Singapore

King Goerge VI - $10,000 Banknote replica

A variety of currencies were used in Singapore during different periods of its history. The Singapore Mint is proud to present a series of banknotes replicas which trace our currency history of pre-independence Singapore.

The Malayan Dollar was used from 1940 to 1953, and was issued by then Board of Commissioners of Currency Malaya. The $10,000 banknote was the highest face value notes and was predominantly for inter-bank transactions. The notes features the portrait of King George VI in oval frame on the right and the note value in ornate guilloche on the left.

This banknote replica is minted in 8gm 999 Fine Silver.
