While I am buying my dinner at the Secret Recipe Restaurant at Alpha Angle Mall, I saw this chocolate burnt cheesecake. I personally never try a burnt cheesecake before so I decided to buy one slice to taste it. It cost RM11.80 if you take-away.
The correct name for this type of cheesecake is Basque cheesecake.
Basque are members of a people who live in both Spain and France in areas bordering the Bay of Biscay and encompassing the western foothills of the Pyrenees Mountains. The origin of this way of preparing this cheesecake is from Spain.
The Basque cheesecake has no separate crust but, rather, develops its crust through hard, high-temperature baking. It is characterized by a burnt, scorched top that conceals a soft, gooey filling of cream cheese, sugar, eggs, and cream which oozes like molten lava when cut.
After I eat this, I feel it is not different from the normal cheesecake. I will likely buy from another place again to check if it just Secret Recipe didn't bake the cheesecake properly.
Here are pictures of my Chocolate Burnt Cheesecake.
