After my vegetarian burger for lunch, I was looking for dessert. I was looking for something different as the dessert I often eat is western style. I decided to visit the Oriental Landmark, a restaurant specializing in fine Cantonese cuisine to see if it have anything dessert I haven't tried before. It is located at the Intermark Mall if you ever what to visit it.

After looking at their dessert menu, I order the chilled layered herbal jelly and mango pudding. The total cost for this dessert is RM10.45 after including the service tax.

This chilled layered herbal jelly and mango pudding is interesting, it is a fusion dish made out of western cuisine and Chinese cuisine.

When it is served, the pudding is made out of 2 different types of pudding. The bottom part is mango pudding while the upper part is herbal pudding with the pudding surrounded with mango syrup.

For those who don't know what pudding is, it is a type of dessert that characteristically denotes a sweet, milk-based dessert similar in consistency to egg-based custards, instant custards, or a mousse

For Herbal Pudding, it is actually called Guilinggao which means tortoise jelly powder in Chinese. It is a jelly-like Chinese medicine, also sold as a dessert. It was traditionally made from turtle shell powder and it is expensive.

That commercially available guilinggao does not contain turtle shell powder. They share the same herbal additives as the medicine and are similarly marketed as being good for skin complexion when ingested.
