Newtown food centre signature dry mee pok
On 2nd days of my trip to Singapore, I wanted to see how much would it cost for a average Singaporean to eat outside. I randomly pick this Newtown food centre since I am passing by it and I am hungry.
after looking at all the stalls that are opened, I decided to ordered a signature dry mee pok that cost 7 SGD per bowl. The dry mee pok come with a bowl of soup that contains pork meat, fish ball, lettuce, pig skin, lean meat and fish cake.
For those who don't know what Mee pok is, it is a Chinese noodle characterized by its flat and yellow appearance, varying in thickness and width. The dish is of Chaoshan origin and is commonly served in the Chaoshan region of China and countries with a significant Chaoshan Chinese immigrant population such as Singapore, Malaysia and Thailand. Mee pok is commonly served tossed in a sauce, though sometimes served in a soup . Meat and vegetables are added on top.
Overall the meal is great beside me trying to not think in ringgit.
