The following is the mini-story for The Kampung Life.

Breezy air, with a scent of starchy notes, steadily caresses Jalur Gemilang oh so gently. The sun is almost at noon high. Atuk is readying himself to go tend to the sweet potato garden he has been nurturing for the past 5 weeks. The snails and ladybugs never did give up battling with atuk to claim the prized sweet potato leaves. The little yellow fluffy chick did offer some help clearing the pests but quickly lost interest when nenek started laying dried corn kernel feed on the ground.

But soon the yellow feathered will run scattered as Salleh and Arif dart through playing tarik upih. This unique fun pastime has always been in the kampung lifestyle tradition. It was not long ago when atuk was teaching ayah how to not fall off, atuk told us the stories of the many times ayah used to fall off while being pulled around by Abu, ayah's cousin. These stories always made Salleh and Arif burst out in laughter.

Their father looked upwards from the paddy field as he heard their laughter echoing across. It broke his concentration for a while as he was wondering, " what could the boys have heard from atuk that they were so amused about?" The sudden grunts from Si Atan followed by the chuckles from Rosli who is riding on Si Atan's back brought ayah back to the fields. There is so much more to harvest but so little time, this was now of those times, he wishes that they could afford a decent tractor to ease the back-breaking labour.

One day his dream will come true.
