Recently at the KLCC Suria Mall, the Cold storage store is promoting some Japanese products among them are Furikake.
Furikake is a dry Japanese condiment to be sprinkled on top of cooked rice, vegetables, and fish, or used as an ingredient in onigiri. It typically consists of a mixture of dried fish, sesame seeds, chopped seaweed, sugar, salt, and monosodium glutamate. Other flavorful ingredients such as katsuobushi, or okaka, freeze-dried salmon particles, shiso, egg, powdered miso, vegetables, etc., are often added to the mix. Furikake is often brightly colored and flaky. It can have a slight fish or seafood flavoring and is sometimes spicy. It can be used in Japanese cooking for pickling foods and for rice balls
I decided to buy the Grill beef flavor since I haven't tried it before, it cost RM6.56 per pack.
This time I use it on the fried rice I buy from the nearby mix rice stall to upgrade it's flavor.
