On April 25, 2015, YAB Tan Sri Dato 'Haji Muhyiddin bin Mohd. Yassin, Deputy Prime Minister of Malaysia has launched the 2015 Asean Commemorative coin at the Mandarin Oriental Hotel, Kuala Lumpur. The commemorative coins were sold on April 27, 2015, at Sasana Kijang and at all BNMs throughout the country.
The front of the commemorative coin presents the logo of ASEAN with 10 arches in a molecular loop symbolizing the progress of the ASEAN nation as well as to reflect the unity of the peoples from ASEAN communities. The words ASEAN 2015 MALAYSIA are on the upper circumference of the coin while the ASEAN theme for 2015 – OUR PEOPLE, OUR COMMUNITY AND OUR VISION is on the lower circumference of the coin.
The center of the coin features the image of the hornbill with the motif of 2 stars and the image of Bunga Raya in the background. The flags of the ten (10) ASEAN countries are depicted circling the center of the coin. The words ‘Bank Negara Malaysia’ as the issuing authority of the commemorative coin is featured on the upper circumference of the coin while the face value of the coin is inscribed on the lower circumference.
