On 14 October 2010, YAB Tan Sri Dato 'Haji Muhyiddin bin Mohd. Yassin, Deputy Prime Minister at Felda Hall, Jalan Maktab, Kuala Lumpur, launched a commemorative coin in conjunction with the Jabatan Ukur dan Pemetaan Malaysia(JUPEM) 125 Anniversary in English call Malaysia Department of Survey and Mapping.

The front of the coin displays the image of the surveyor JUPEM is conducting surveying works using theodolite displayed in the middle of this commemorative coin. This tool is used to measure the horizontal angle and space value or the circuit between the measuring marks. This tool is also used to determine the direction of the line of sight in the measurement. The name "Jabatan Ukur dan Pemetaan Malaysia" means "Department Survey and Mapping Malaysia" in English is shown on the bottom of the coin, while the word "125 Tahun" mean "125 Years" in English is displayed on the top of the coin.

The back of the coin displays the official logo of JUPEM displayed on the center of the coin, while the word "Bank Negara Malaysia" as the issuing authority of the commemorative coin, appears on the top of the coin. The "1885-2010" year is shown below the logo, while the face value of the coin is displayed on the bottom of the coin design.

The commemorative coins are minted and packed by Bank Negara Malaysia and sold on 15 October 2010 at Bank Negara Malaysia's headquarters (BNMLINK), and its branches are in Penang, Johor Bahru, Kuala Terengganu, Kota Kinabalu, and Kuching.
