History:
The commencement of the commemorative coins in conjunction with the 30th Islamic Development Bank (IDB) Annual Meeting was held by former Prime Minister Abdullah Ahmad Badawi at the Palace of Golden Horses on 23 June 2005. Also present at the function was Deputy Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak.
Three types of coin issued by Bank Negara Malaysia in conjunction with the 30th Annual Meeting of IDB Board of Governors held at the Putrajaya International Convention Center on 22-24 June; Gold Commemorative Coin, Silver commemorative Coin and Nordic Gold coin card. All three coins are legal tender in Malaysia.
The back of the coin is different according to the type of coin. For the gold and silver coins, the image of the Prime Minister's Office and the Putrajaya Mosque are as well as the jawi writing "The 30th Annual Islamic Development Bank Meeting". For nordic gold coins, the words "The 30th Annual Islamic Development Bank Meeting" written in roman and khuf khufi.
The front design for these three commemorative coins is the same as the official logo of the 30th Islamic Development Bank Annual Meeting and the words "ISLAMIC DEVELOPMENT BANK 30th ANNUAL MEETING 2005" and "MALAYSIA".
The commemorative coins are minted and packed by The Royal Mint of Malaysia.
