History:
On March 31, 2005, Bank Negara Malaysia issued a commemorative coin in honor of the 100th anniversary of Y.T.M. Tunku Abdul Rahman Putra Al-Haj, the first Prime Minister of Malaysia. Three types of commemorative coins have been issued; Gold RM100 coins (proof), Silver RM10 Coins (proof) and Copper-Nickel coin (coin card). The three coins are legal tender in Malaysia.
The front design of all these three coin displays Y.T.M. Tunku Abdul Rahman Putra Al-Haj during the historic moment of the declaration of Malaysia's independence. The picture is surrounded by the words "Y.T.M TUNKU ABDUL RAHMAN PUTRA AL-HAJ" and the year "1903-1990".
While the backside of this coin displays the coat of arm of the Government of Malaysia with the word "BAPA KEMERDEKAAN" and the face value of the coin.
The commemorative coins were minted and distributed by The Royal Mint of Malaysia and were sold on April 1, 2005, at Coin Shoppe, The Royal Mint of Malaysia, Kompleks Kilang Wang, Persiaran Selangor, Seksyen 15, 40740 Shah Alam, Selangor D. E.
