On 3 October 2003, Bank Negara Malaysia issued three types of commemorative coins in conjunction with the 10th Organisation of Islamic Summit (OIC) which took place on 16-18 October 2003 at the Putrajaya Convention Center. The three types of coins (Nordic Gold RM1, RM10 Silver Proof, and RM100 Gold Proof) are legal tender.
The design for these three commemorative coins is the same, on the front is the official logo of the OIC's 10th Summit and the words "PERSIDANGAN KETUA-KETUA NEGARA ISLAM" and "SIDANG KEMUNCAK KE-10". On the backside is the Arabic word written in kufi khat which is Munazzomah (Organization), Al-Muktamar (Conference), and Al-Islami (Islam).
