Sepang F1 Circuit Malaysia located3.5km east of the KL International Airport (KLIA) is the latest addition to the motorsports circuit in the country. It was launched by Dato Seri Dr. Mahathis Mohamad, the Prime Minister of Malaysia on 9 March 1999. The state-of-the-art circuit is the only circuit in the world that has been accorded the privilege to use the official Formula-1 logo in its name.
The 5.542km circuit features the world's first double frontage Grandstand in the middle of the racing track. The Grandstand alone can accommodate up to 30,000 spectators, while the mobile and natural stands can accommodate 100,000 motorsports fans. The 2-level Grandstand also features 18 Corporate Boxes, 22 Corporate Platform and 42 Commentator Booths. It unique double frontage structure enables two separate events to run concurrently.
Strategically located at the tip of the hairpin turn is the beautiful and unique architectural Canopy Tower. Nowhere else in the racing world will one find a viewing area from which one can see a race from start to finish.
The circuit features 15 turns and 8 straights. The longest straight is 0.927km where drivers can accelerate to an expected speed of 300 kph.
