1 ringgit 1401 Hijrah commemorative Coins or also known as 15th Century Hijrah Commemorative Coins was issued in conjunction with the 15th Century Hijrah which falls on the 1st Muharram 1401 Hijrah. The coin made of copper-nickel was launched on November 11, 1980, with a total of 500,000 pieces and sold at a face value of $ 1 only. No proof coins were issued for this series of coins.
At the front of the coin display the celebration of the 15th Century Hijrah. The jawi letter "HA" means migration. The Kaaba building and the Nabawi Mosque tower in Medina symbolize the migration of Prophet Muhammad from Mecca to Medina and the beginning of the year of migration. The spider's nest symbolizes unity among Muslims in Malaysia and the world.
On the back of the coin display the jawi text "15th Century Celebration" placed on the side of the coin, the face value of $ 1 in the center of the coins with the jawi "1401 Hijrah" on it. Jawi script "Malaysia" is under the coin.
