Welcome to my Hebrew reading & language series.
Genesis 33:6:11

So Esau finally gets to see his long lost brother. The topic for this reading is presents.
You know, when you try to give someone something and they refuse. Then you argue a bit, then a bit more. In my family, sometimes it even gets heated. "Just take it! I won't take 'no' for an answer." and one party breaks down and accepts the gift so as not to have a rupture in family relationships.
That is what happens in the Hebrew reading for today. It is still a very happy event, especially now that Jacob (Israel) knows that his brother is not intent on killing him.
Besides the presents, we have Jacob pouring it on with the talk of "...my lord." and "...seeing you is like looking at the face of God." I do not see anyone asking Jacob what happened to his hip but then again, there will be more dialogue coming next week as Jacob is allowed to stay in the land of his forefathers.

Then the servants drew near, they and their children, and bowed down. Leah likewise and her children drew near and bowed down. And last Joseph and Rachel drew near, and they bowed down. Esau said, "What do you mean by all this company that I met?" Jacob answered, "To find favor in the sight of my lord." But Esau said, "I have enough, my brother; keep what you have for yourself." Jacob said, "No, please, if I have found favor in your sight, then accept my present from my hand. For I have seen your face, which is like seeing the face of God, and you have accepted me. Please accept my blessing that is brought to you, because God has dealt graciously with me, and because I have enough." Thus he urged him, and he took it.
