Been missing in action for a few days coz my six year old son is currently sick for 4 days already. He has recovered from his mild cough and colds but he has recurrent fever of 37° to 39°. We were supposed to bring him to the doctor yesterday but he seems fine all day. His temperature did'nt rise to 38 and 37.4 was the highest.

He was also eating his regular meals and milk in between. Still jolly and playful so i thought he is on his way to recovery and just having a common flu just like the other kids in the compound.

He woke up at 3am today to go to the bathroom to pee. Upon checking his temperature it was 38° so i gave him paracetamol syrup and went back to sleep. He seems fine and at his usual jolly mood and greeted me good morning and saying i love you momi upon waking up.

Morning till lunch time he was fine and no fever. I dozed of a bit and wakes up at 2pm coz i felt some weight on my tummy and i open my eyes seeing him smile and lying head on my tummy. I checked his forehead and i was sad to feel he has fever again. It was 39° this time so i told my husband to prepare and we are going to the doctor for check up.

We arrived at the doctor's clinic around 2:30 pm . As we are waiting for his turn he was asking me what will the doctor will do to him. I told him the doctor will just ask some questions if there is pain on his tummy , head, or other parts of his body and you he will just going to answer him either yes or no.

As expected the doctor requested for a CBC and Urinalysis , so we went ahead to the Diagnostic Lab for my son's test. Upon paying at the cashier , the Medical Technologies assisted us immediately for the procedure. My husband was so tense as if he was the one going for blood extraction. lol!

The MedTech instructed us for my son to be seated on our lap so he won't get scared. My husband seated at the extraction chair and let my son be seated on his lap. Oh! i am a proud mama coz my son is so brave he just close his eyes during the procedure and smile at me and gave me a thumbs up upon opening his eyes.

We were informed to wait for an hour for the result of the tests. I asked the nurse if just in case it is dengue, will my son needed to be confine or not. The nurse said it's case to case basis. If it's not severe then home care management will be fine . Oh geez , we are praying it's not dengue though there is an outbreak in our place.

My husband is really worried and you know men when it comes to such scenarios , they are weak and can't hide their worries.

Hospitals near our place are full in capacity with dengue cases arises. The Department of Health (DOH) reported yesterday August 09, that dengue cases in the country reached 90,000 from January to July this year.

Based on DOH data , there were 92,343 dengue cases recorded from January 01 to July 23. A 118% higher compared to the 42,294 cases reported during the same period in 2021.

We've waited for an hour and finally it was released but we are not able to make it to the doctor's clinic on time so we have to go back tomorrow morning for the interpretation of the result.

We are praying hard it's not dengue nor any serious illness that requires confinement. I hate staying in the hospital. Hope everything went well tomorrow.

These are all for tonight. Thank you for the read.

My son had dengue once so... His was like this:

3rd day, non-stop fever as high as 39, no relief even if with paracetamol. So, bathe him all the time so to alleviate the fever but it didn't until the next day when the fever stopped. The danger time when the platelets drop after the fever and glad his didn't drop too low.

So, the half-bathing I think really helps, keep him cool. Didn't have sleep because I have to make sure he is cool not burning hot. Lots of fluids. They said apple tunic helps, which is strong he only tasted a little since his case was ok. His CBC test positive of dengue. Take care and God bless.
