A Barangay worker handed me a notice a few days ago from our Municipal Treasurer's office regarding my Aunt's unpaid taxes for their house and lot. It was not meant to disregard the yearly payment of their real estate tax . It just that they are living in New York , USA now for over a decade and no one is living in their house anymore.
So i informed my Aunt about the notice and yesterday i went to the Municipal Treasurer's Office to pay what is due together with the penalties for late payment. It only took me less than 10 minutes to process everything . I commend the newly elected Mayor of our town for an organized and smooth transaction that i had . No need to go to different windows as i only talked to one Municipal employee and assisted me all out regarding my queries. That's what you call "Good Change" in the system.
Compare to my previous transactions in the office years ago , process took me so long and employees are pointing me to different windows to get this and that, now it's a lot better. No more fuss and employees are approachable and kind. It give me a sense of pride when i choose her for the position. I won't be heartbroken paying taxes coz i'm seeing development in our own Municipal's office. I know it's worth paying what is due to our local government.
Last July i also renewed all the necessary permit for my little store. From DTI to clearances to permits, etc etc.. A law abiding citizen i am, hahaha! Sometimes it's hard to let go part of your hard earned money to tax when you are aware of corruptions in the government but we still have to comply or else more people will suffer if our government has no funds to meet the needs of it's people.
So where our taxes go?
Why do we have to pay our taxes if it will only go to someone's pockets, huh? Not all officials are corrupt anyway , so we have to pay what is due to help our government to keep on running. We should think more of what good it can do to help our people and probably just cursed the corrupt ones, hahaha!
Some of our taxes goes to government expenditures . It help us to have access on our basic necessities and services such as water, power, roads, airports and Metro Rail Transit.
There is an ongoing construction of PNR or Philippine National Railways in our area , connecting the Metro to Subic making travel fast , cheap and safe in the coming years.
Our taxes also help us to be safe coz it is used to pay for the salaries of our Military personnel and Policemen whose making sure for us to have a peaceful environment.
One of my prime reason why i am compliant and pay what is due to our government is, it also pays for the salary of our dedicated Teachers. Is'nt it feel good to help our teachers such as @TeacherLynlyn and other teachers here in the platform , doing their job excellently , with so much passion and love they are risking their life too just to teach our children. It's more than worth to be able to have my share of paying their salaries. By paying what is due , we are helping to educate our children and the future generation of our country.
It also fund the construction of Public schools and buildings. Just last week our own Elementary school was under floor renovation , it was elevated coz the previous flooring was flooded as it was affected by hightides.
Taxes coming from alcohol and tobacco are used to fund our Philhealth or the states Health Insurance Fund. Some taxes are used to help the poorest of the poor. They are given a monthly allowance like members of 4Ps - Pantawid Pamilyang Pilipino Program that somehow help them to get by and survive difficulties of life. Free medical services from our Public hospitals and a lot more.
When tax collections or tax revenues are low , all these basic services mention will suffer and will result to poor delivery of services.
Let us all help our nation to build a better one in paying what is due . Let us help each other by paying our taxes. And to all the corrupt ones who pocketed what is not for them but for the people , may you all be tormented and haunted by your conscience. Peace be with you, eternal peace, lol!
Anyway, did you know that by just buying some basic stuff in the groceries , you are already paying taxes? Yes through 12%VAT or Value Added Tax in some goods . So folks we are all contributors in building a nation so don't hesitate to ask for free services in any government offices , always remember that we are paying them so we have the right for such services.
Thank you dear readers for your time. You are all appreciated. And to all my Sponsors " Salamat ng Marami" as always! God Bless you all more!
