With a stellar reputation, KB GPR Surveys have provided Ground Penetrating Radar (GPR) services to sectors. With the aid of GPR surveyors, many discoveries have been made in archaeological projects. Other than that, they offer more advantages. Below are some of them.

Looking at underground tunnels

The GPR survey cost is validated by using advanced equipment that can detect deteriorations inside and above the tunnel. That becomes useful information about safety inside a tunnel, and it is a highly effective tool. GPR can identify the hidden construction shafts, condition of the lining, and the voids can be made into a safer and cost-effective solution. Radar has become one of the most well-established techniques for rapid data acquisition. You may confidently study tunnels, masonry tunnel lining, and concrete tunnel lining with the technology since the Concrete Imaging System allows you to scan the data securely and provide the information in real-time.

Get an accurate environmental assessment

One factor that has influenced the GPR survey cost is its ability to give an environmental assessment. For example, you can look at the soil and potential contamination. With GPR, you can scan a large soil area to detect the different sediment layers. Suppose you have a project that requires GPR. In that case, you may contact an expert surveyor that specialises in providing state-of-the-art services in your area.

Detect all types of metal objects

GPR detects all metal objects, including clamping cables, rebars, aluminium, or copper tubing. This method can also locate all types of non-metallic, such as layers of air, plastic, electrical lines, glass fibres, cables, and wood located in the concrete. Through a GPR utility survey, it is possible to identify objects in a plurality of layers depending on the nature of the concrete structure, spaces between the reinforcing bars, the size of the object and the depth of the object. It is also possible to indicate the thickness of a wall or a concrete slab.

Applicable to different floor coverings

GPR can be used on different floor coverings. The results may not always be satisfactory, especially when used on natural stone slabs or tiles. The tiles often contain quartz, which can interfere with the radar waves. The plastic film in the insulating layers, metal screens in soil systems and air layers in multilayer structures are also factors that can cause reductions in the power measurement or limit the depth measurement range.

A GPR utility survey can also scan plaster, insulating layers, and other kinds of materials. The power measurement, however, decreases accordingly. GPR is intended to be used directly on concrete surfaces or the ground and a further layer above the concrete; the layers containing metal or existing among the layers of air layers negatively influence the power measurement of the device.

Find lost graves

Using GPR, surveyors can locate known marked, unmarked, and lost graves in cemeteries. Some cemeteries are hundreds of years old, and unmarked graves can be common. Misplaced or poorly located headstones or markers can further complicate matters. Moreover, records are often vague, lost, destroyed, or incomplete, and there may be questions about the precise extent. There is often no surface expression of the burial location, and graves become lost.

Due to the sensitivity of these sites, the challenge is to explore the subsurface without disturbing the soil and burials. GPR is the only viable non-destructive method used for grave detection. During the grave detection survey, GPR surveyors will mark the location of detected graves on the ground with a paint line down the centre axis of the grave for the length of the grave.

GPR cemetery surveys are non-intrusive and ideal for locating cemeteries and unmarked grave detection. The surveyors will use GPR to detect several features that help identify a grave, including the coffin or casket (wood, metal, lead-lined, etc.) or vault, disturbed ground structure and excavation features, and movement or voids caused by the collapse of the coffin or casket.

Inspect bridges

GPR technology can be quite advantageous for bridge inspection. GPR Surveys are particularly well-suited for prioritising budgets. Further, while acoustical methods are very subjective, GPR data is quantitative.

GPR surveyors have helped to define the boundaries of new property development. To find top candidates, one should research the best GPR surveyors near them. It would also help to read feedbacks and ratings from review sites.

the first time I came across KB GPR when my brother who is an engineer was using it on site, I would amazed on the things it could do. It was able to detect a fault through a pipe tunnel and save huge cost that could have gone into repair if it had imploded.

We are grateful to man's ingenui to fashion useful technological tools that help us do complex things, which could be impossible decades before now. At least with a tool like KB GPR Survey, we can even tell a disaster would occur even before they happen. This way many lives can be saved from the agony of such an occurrence.
