Its scientific name is Eunectes Murino and it's also known as Water Boa.
It's considered the largest and heaviest snake in the world, it can measure up to 15 meters and weigh more than 200 kg.
The Anacondas from Venezuela can be usually found on the Orinoco River, as well as in the various plains, estuaries and savannas of my country. They are also very popular in the Amazon, where some terrifying movies have been made.
The female Anaconda is a few inches larger than the males.
It's not a poisonous snake, it's a constrictor. This means that Anacondas are carnivorous snakes that hunt their prey by trapping it while hidding in the foliage, it curls into its prey, squeezes it so hard it crushes its bones, and then swallows it. Anaconda's can hunt prey much larger than them and their digestion process can last up to more than 2 weeks.
It's usually considered the god of rivers by some indigenous tribes in the Amazon and the Sorte mountain.
Its head is flattened and its color is dark green with black spots. Their bellies have a white-ish color. However, there are several color variations.
It's viviparous, with more than 20-40 snakes per gestation. Gestation usually lasts 24 weeks. The small snakes are born independent, so they swim and eat alone.
I saw some of them myself in the plains of my country. They can be seen crossing the roads, their bodies going from one side of the road to the other. It's incredible! They are enemies of farmers because they can make their animals disappear in a single night, this because they're stealthy creatures and do not wake their prey when they bite into them.
I have not seen one before but I have watched the movie :D Ah, means anacondas are similar with pythons? They wrap their pray and squeeze them until they die and swallow them?
