Thinking About Disasters Won't Help, Live in the present and leave the future
Thinking about things negatively is called "catastrophic thinking (catastrophising)" and it is making things worse.
We believe Covid-19 has infected our world, which drives us insane. It got to the point where people considered becoming zombies, and the world would be swept away and end sooner. We are trying to make life even worst thinking horrendously, because our intuition does not understand affectively with what we assume and what went right.
We're all concerned about climate change, but visualising 's self surviving in an infected world isn't a big help to mitigate these risks. When you notice yourself entertaining unhelpful thoughts, just make yourself hold back and recollect things in life positive.
It's common having anxious feelings, no matter how outrageous they can be. And that's piece of our existence to continuously observe our surroundings for dilemmas to overcome. The concern wasn't so much about as we have anxious feelings as it is that we assume our feelings are real and switch them into perhaps the worst circumstance that feels so much more stressed and worried.
Others catastrophize because that is what their parents wanted, and thus repeat the behavior patterns they observed as children. I won't deny that I have this thing, and that it has spread throughout the family. In our case, we were able to completely avoid the habit of catastrophizing, which was a good thing. Yes, we can avoid this. I don't want my children to adopt it as they grow up.
There are simple ways in coping this kind of thinking and it's proven!
The first thing we can do is try to stop the way you thinking negatively. I know you do, you always do that when things attacking your thoughts badly. For instance, I'm always worried everytime the dark comes out. I always thought that my kids will be gone while we're at sleep. Why do I even think of that, it's ridiculous! Do you imagine the questions that starts with "What ifs"? That's exactly what's happening to my mind sometimes. So, how to cope this? Just stop thinking negatively.
As I mentioned, stop asking "what ifs". Why don't we focus on the present and if ever we have current problems, then, solve the current and never think of the worse scenario that could possibly happen. Always remember that negative thought won't help you, it could worsen the situation. Others might react on this negatively, but this is what I'm doing, to stay at the present not at the future. Yes, it's good when you think of the future because you want to be prepared. But, always prioritize your present. And if ever you're thinking of the future, think positively.
Previously, I posted about types of Anxiety and you can read it here, https://read.cash/@gerl/find-out-what-kind-of-anxiety-youre-dealing-with-a1cf4739. Whatever kind of anxiety you have, the first thing to do is to stop for a moment. Remember, health is important and it should come first before anything else. Take a break and calm yourself. Clearing your mind is very helpful than thinking over and over again. Overthinking won't help, it can trigger your anxieties.
SUMMARY
Catastrophic thinking would be when you believe things, person, or a scenario is worse than it has been. It is linked to a number of illnesses, including anxiety disorders, feelings of hopelessness, and post-traumatic severe depression. It is indeed obvious we've had such moments when factors appeared out to be worse than they used to be. This keeps happening and there's nothing to be bothered with. Moreover, if feeling of a worst condition is becoming more and more your mode, you ’re probably irrational thinking, which is something you have to resolve. Mindfulness and relaxation techniques can indeed aid in reducing your mind and give you access into the present situation, apart from worsening anxious emotions.
