I feel very fortunate because a miracle happened in our family. Our father has been given a second chance at life thanks to the intercession of St. Vincent Ferrer.

It was a very hot afternoon on the 7th day of September 2020 when an unforgettable event has struck our family. I heard my mother shouting my name as I was having my online class. I was initially perplexed until I found out that my dear father had a stroke. His hands were trembling, his eyes grew white, and his body became stiff. During that moment, I was terrified, and I'm not sure what I should do. Instead of riding our motorcycle, I panicked and ran to the police station and RHU to seek for assistance. Fortunately, the policemen came to our aid right away, transporting him to the hospital through their police car.

As we are inside the police car, I was already convinced that my father’s chance of living is very low but my mother firmly held his arms and told us to follow her prayers. In that moment, we all started praying to St. Vincent Ferrer, asking him for a miracle for our dad and to keep him alive.

"St. Vincent, have mercy on us, save our father, save him from death. Please pray for him so he could still live a little longer.”

We cried those prayers repeatedly until we arrived at the hospital. Then something unexpected happened. As we arrived at the hospital, the prayer was answered immediately. He stood by himself as if nothing had happened to him. Even the police officers and hospital staffs were stunned because he went to the emergency room all by himself.

While waiting for the doctor, the nurse administered first aid and inquired him as to what had occurred. My father told her everything. At first, the nurse felt very confused as to how my father could walk normally after being in a life-or-death scenario. After some sort of interviews, they tested my father’s body to know what really happened to his body. The findings of his doctor is that he had suffered from lacunar stroke. The doctor said that it was an incredible miracle but did not know how it could have happened since my father was in such a serious condition and had no chances of survival according to their medical knowledge. She even informed my father that he was extremely fortunate to have survived such sickness because most of her patients with the same condition, if not paralyzed, died.

When we saw my father alive and smiling, it felt like a heavy thing had been lifted from our chests. We stayed in the hospital for another four days while he recovered. His doctor advised him to stop drinking alcohol, smoking cigarettes, and eating fatty foods as of that day so he can live longer.

I'm overjoyed because, up until now, because I had seen how much he had changed. He went from being a man with numerous vices to a caring husband and parent. He became very particular about what we eat and even persuaded us to have a healthy lifestyle.

According to him, he had no vision and can only hear our cries. During those times, we really believed he couldn't survive and we were close of surrendering him to God. But, despite the fact that he couldn't see us, he said he heard our cries for help and able to follow our prayers on his mind. He surrendered himself and prayed earnestly to St. Vincent Ferrer, believing that our prayers be heard and answered.

Our family was devastated by this unforgettable event, but we all knew that it had been God's will, which has always been perfect for us throughout our lives. We prepared ourselves emotionally for the final goodbye with our father, knowing there was nothing more that could be done for him. But through the intercession of St. Vincent Ferrer, our father was given a second life. We have always had a devotion to Saint Vincent Ferrer, and have prayed to him several times for his intercession.

Our family will be eternally grateful to our Lord for everything He has done for us. Because of this, our faith was strengthened, and we pledged to live our lives in accordance with His will. I thank God for this miracle, and pray that this will bring more people closer to God through their devotion to Saint Vincent Ferrer!

God is really good. This article made me remember what happened to me when I was still young, particularly in such a life-or-death situation. It made me emotional because, even though it's been a decade since that happened, it is still fresh in my mind. Indeed, a miracle can happen at anytime, and I always believe it. I am glad your father is okay now. Prayers are indeed powerful.
