Life On Animal Planet

Humans and animals have a lot in common, when you think about it. We both have brains. We both breathe air. We both live here on Earth. But what would happen if we switched places?

It's time to flip the script. Have you ever wondered what life would be like if the animals ran things, and we were just their entertainment? If we were the ones trained to work and cater to their needs? What if the world were flipped on its head, and animals were the ones writing our daily horoscopes, creating new technologies, conducting interviews in suits and ties?

In this new article, Life on Animal Planet, I'll discuss just that: how our world would change if animals took over. From school to work, from home to the dentist's office—we'll explore how animals would handle it all. This isn't about making fun of animals for what they're not capable of (after all, they're pretty smart!) but about showing how our world could be better if we gave these creatures a chance.

Imagine a day in the life of a human being. You wake up, get dressed, and go to school—where you have to sit quietly and listen to your teacher, who is an elephant. You finally get out of class, but then you have to go to work—and your boss is a giraffe! You're just about ready to go home for the day when suddenly the bus driver, a pigeon, stops and kicks everyone off because he's too afraid of some butterflies. Finally you make it home… only to learn that your landlord is a grizzly bear.

Now imagine having this day happen every single day until you die.

At this point, you may be thinking that maybe humans should be in charge after all. But we'd like to challenge you on this point: we think that if animals were in charge of our world, we would actually be better off. What would happen if…

Animals were in charge of school?

We would definitely not have to sit through long lectures about things like irregular verbs and the circulatory system. Instead, our favorite teachers would let us play more games and read more picture books. We would have recess all day long, and we could skip all those boring classes that we don’t really understand anyway!

Animals were in charge of our jobs?

We wouldn’t have to worry about showing up late or forgetting to turn in an important project. Our boss wouldn’t get mad at us when we spilled coffee on a report or forgot to feed the dog. On the contrary—our boss might just roll over and lick our face!

Animals were in charge of driving?

We wouldn’t have to worry about traffic jams, road rage, or getting dinged by the parking meter. We wouldn’t even need cars! We could just run through the woods to our destination. Isn’t that wonderful?

Animals rule the world?

There would be no more pollution. Animals don't want to live in a dirty place. They're very good at keeping their habitats clean. I recently watched a raccoon spend an hour digging out a trash bin to get a single almond out of it—and then meticulously cover up the hole he dug before leaving. Can you imagine how responsible they are? I bet, some people can't even pick up their trash.

Aside from that, there would be no more political bickering, because animals don't like pointless arguments. When they want something, they try whatever they can until they either get it or give up. If they do try something that doesn't work, they don't waste time trying to convince anyone else why what didn't work for them will work for someone else—they move on and try something else.

No this is pure speculation on my part, but I bet that if animals were in charge of our world, there would be no warfare. They'd also probably be better at managing resources and taking care of the planet. Animals are known for their highly developed senses and instincts—I bet they'd be able to detect threats to our ecosystem before we could even see them coming.

We could learn so much from the example set by our animal friends, especially when it comes to leadership. Can you imagine a world where everyone was as in-tune with the earth as your average otter? Or what about a society where everyone knew their place and had a job that suited them like the hummingbird does?

If you are anything like me, you'll be lying down on your desk laughing at the ridiculousity of this article while also admitting its underlying truth. The idea of putting the animals in charge is farcical, but if they ruled our world, it would probably be better than human rule. It sounds so great that sometimes I wish I lived in Animal Planet myself!
