After 3 Long Years, I Became Jesus Christ Again

Greetings! I have a very good news to share with you.

After 3 years, I became Jesus Christ again! Yesterday, I just shared with you the day I became Jesus Christ, which is the Holy Week before the pandemic came to our country. If you haven’t read it yet, here it is: The Day I Became Jesus Christ

But today is different. Instead of another painful scourging and crucifixion, we're walking around in a station where Jesus is already dead and Mary is carrying her dead son.

So for those who don't know what the station of the cross is: The Station of the Cross or Way of the Cross, also known as the Way of Sorrows or simply the Via Crucis, refers to a series of images depicting Jesus Christ on the day of his crucifixion and accompanying prayers. The stations grew out of imitations of Via Dolorosa in Jerusalem which is believed to be the actual path Jesus walked to Mount Calvary. The object of the stations is to help the Christian faithful to make a spiritual pilgrimage through contemplation of the Passion of Christ.

Good Friday, is the most solemn day of the year. It is the day when we remember that Jesus Christ died on the cross to save us from our sins. Some people may find it weird. Why do we need to be saved? What sin did we commit?

Well, we're all sinful and imperfect. We just can't help ourselves sometimes. When we were kids, it's really hard to not take that candy your friend is holding even though you know it's not yours. When we get older, it's even harder to control our emotions and be angry at someone who did something wrong against us.

We're all sinners and no matter how hard we try to be perfect and holy, all of us will still fall short and make mistakes in life. But thankfully, Jesus Christ took all of those sins for us so that we can have eternal life with Him in Heaven someday. And because He loves us so much, He rose again 3 days after his death so that we become a new person when He comes back in our lives through baptism or confirmation.

Today I think we should give a special honor to Mama Mary. In here, she carries her dead son on her shoulders and also on her heart. She was a young mother of 33 years when she gave birth to Jesus Christ but now she carried him as a dead body. My heart breaks for her. I can imagine that moment when Mama Mary hugged her son for the last time and cried her heart out. It is really heart breaking because I feel like I am experiencing the same thing that happened more than 2000 years ago when Jesus Christ died. I wonder how she did it when she lost one of the most important pillars in her life. She has to stand strong and go through this very hard times because there are many people who need her strength like John the Beloved and Martha, Lazarus' sister. And no matter how painful it was for her to lose someone whom she loved so much, it's not yet over because she still needs to witness his death in front of everyone without having anyone who will hold her as broken as she is or wipe away her tears.

It was a very touching scene and I couldn't help but cry while I am being carried by Mama Mary’s arms. It makes me feel like I am truly her son, her real son.

I hope next time there will be no more pandemic so that we can have our yearly procession and continue our very long tradition.
