Stone Houses

Nowadays, the interest in the houses made of stone structures in the village has increased considerably. I am talking about structures made of stones obtained as a result of breaking up soil and rocks, which have a unifying and sticky feature called Kiren.

In these structures, the width of which can reach up to one meter, it is possible for an adult person to sit comfortably on the windowsill.

I know that some of them are still standing, more than a century later. Those that contain several generations and are still strong enough to accommodate them have been the focus of attention of recent times and have an increasing financial value.

The fact that the buyers are mostly non-villages and people who have reached retirement age may be the reason why people who have passed the last stage of their life want to live this period in peace.

Although there are many houses that are still in the center of attention, there are a few people who have actually made the purchase, and none of them are fully settled in the houses yet. For this reason, we do not have enough information on chatting and purchasing decisions.

This interest in rural areas and the fact that those who show interest are retired / retired candidates over a certain age may explain the reason for the increased interest with the pandemic period we live in.

Fewer people means less noise and less stress. Despite the declining purchasing power, the price increases due to interest have more than doubled and started to force three times. The expectation is that the interest will continue, and the probability of this happening is quite high.

Those who do not have difficulty in responding to the increasing interest due to the pandemic or other reasons for now may encounter a table that reaches too much value in the future and may be upset.

The modern understanding of life reaching the villages and the elimination of some infrastructure problems not only increase the attractiveness of the landscape and fresh air in terms of price, but also make it permanent.

The fact that brick, iron and cement are used in new buildings explains the reason why the interest was in the stone houses I mentioned at first. Why would someone who has already come from a concrete structure enter the concrete pile again?

any stone house; It has self-heat and sound insulation. The average one meter wide walls separating the rooms have a natural effect in trapping both heat and sound.

Here are the questions to be answered in the coming days; whether these people will use the houses they buy seasonally / seasonally / summer / winter or continuously.

How will the arrival of people from outside and initially considered foreigners be welcomed to a village made up of people who have known each other for years?

I don't think that people who have completed their working life in a village where almost all of them are active people will experience adaptation problems. These will consist of people who will not come to work, but will probably come to live without any problems, stress, and happily.

It is certain that the real owners of the region, who have lived in the region for many years, will not welcome a contrary situation and bad intentions.

Villagers, who were made up of people who did not even lock their doors until yesterday and knew each other, ensure that the lines are determined in the adaptation process.

As time gives the answer to many questions, it is also time that will give the real answer to this.

It is basically the same in most places, where you have new people normally considered to be "intruders" in the towns inhabited by natives. A lot of people do not accept outsiders, and if the stone houses are in the outskirts, the people still have to come to town or village to get supplies unless they build a sustaining garden and raise their own crops to eat, and if they had the room, they could plant enough to help feed others and really get some bonus points. I like the concept, but the stone "houses" I've always seen in pictures are castles and such, and have no window glass, it's all open lol. So if that stays warm... hahahahaha! Is stone and cemented houses are the same right? Hmm. I think we all need to have stone houses in the Philippines since we're having multiple of typhoons every year. Wood houses can be easily wipe off by strong winds.

You are right, the robustness of the houses should be built depending on climatic conditions.

I haven't seen a real stone house because those stone houses are in the northern part of the country but I guess it's better than a concrete house in colder countries.

It's not here in the city centres. It only exists in the villages and in the meantime I enjoy the advantage of living in the village.

I don't really see anything bad about the stone house cause I do see many houses here in my country made out of clay and yet their is love and that love made the house strong than houses made with quality materials

In the past, when living conditions became difficult, bonding could be achieved between family members. Now, when the living conditions get tough, they start to break away from each other.

Your article reminds me of my grandmother and the kind of houses and lives they lived. Life was better then and people were contented with what we can see now as nothing. The relationship between the villagers , the togetherness and their life generally is far from what we have now. In all, time as you say may still not give a complete answer to questions that we may have about the past.

The structures I mentioned are quite old and built many years ago. The new structures are far from what I have described.

I don't have much information about architectural structures by region. While there was only horizontal construction in our past culture, now we are moving towards vertical construction.

Honestly, stones houses are a big help in the islands here in Philippines because we're prone to storm. I think there's a place near here where the houses are all built in stone so that everytime the storm hits our country, all those houses are standing still.

Climatic conditions play an important role in the construction of houses. But financial means are not always convenient.
