If we start from the saying "One misfortune is better than a thousand advice", we will understand that the events that will happen to us may be very different from what we have been told. Yes, indeed, hearing the words spoken and experiencing the event one-to-one on any such subject have very different results from each other.

In the last 2 years, I have had 2 serious operations on my eyes. My past life has a big impact on this happening, or rather, my childhood period is the reason for what I am going through today. I am paying the price for the mistakes I have made because I am not at the point of awareness and there are no adults around to give the necessary warnings. Despite everything, I'm thankful that for now I got through it without any problems. There is a high probability that I will experience similar problems and undergo new operations in the future.

I had my last surgery 35 days ago, I talked to my doctor about my responsibilities in protecting my eyes all the time before and after the surgery. Because I have fulfilled my right to make mistakes, and even small mistakes that can be made after that can have big consequences. The work I do physically does not strain my eye health because I am almost always outside, in the open. I just need to protect my eyes against certain dusts. I already do this with safety glasses.

The rest is my responsibility to protect my eyes against devices such as PCs, phones, tablets, which are constantly increasing due to technology recently. The sincere and question-answer conversation I had with my doctor on this subject led me to further enlightenment on many issues. I would like to convey to you what I remember from that conversation, after all, eye health is important to all of us!

A normal person blinks his eyes an average of 20-25 times a minute while he is awake, we know that this number is around 10 for those who use PCs, tablets and phones, and even 5-6 times in some. This causes eye dryness. It is important for you to blink your eyes so that your eyes do not become wet with tears and lose their slipperiness. Your tear level is pretty low anyway. The longer you keep your eyes open, the more your tears will evaporate and begin to dry. This will start with itching and cause results such as stinging and redness. Your eye will get tired much faster and more than usual. The only way to prevent this from happening is to constantly open and close your eyes at regular intervals.

Don't concentrate too much on any image, text or random object! This may cause you to have focusing problems in your eyes later on, although not initially.

There is a popular belief that computers corrupt the eyes, but this is not true. Computer and similar screen tools and equipment create some problems as a result of misuse or cause an existing problem to arise.

Keep the top edge of the screen at eye level and the distance between you and the screen should be in the best place to allow for distance vision. As far away as possible! The worst this distance is 60 cm. should not be below. Do your writing and reading activities with large fonts, prefer light colored texts over dark colors. Try to get as far away from the screen brightness as possible. Every 45 minutes, take a 10-minute break. If the room where you are using the device is small, ventilate the room as soon as you take a break.

At the point of ventilating the room, it can reduce the accumulation of UV rays and blue light coming directly from the screen to your eyes. The lenses in their eyes are already protected against UV rays, but they are not protected against the light spectrum we call blue light. Blue light reaches the retina at the back of your eyes directly and damages the cells in the retina. This damage to the retina causes permanent deterioration in the eye. For this, be sure to use protective glasses during the time you are in front of the screen.

When I think about the eye operations that I have had and may repeat in the coming years, I have to pay more attention to my eye health than a normal person. Having my regular check-ups is just one of these measures. So, what are you doing for your eye health? Just because you don't have a problem today doesn't mean you never will. At least when using technology, remember that it's time to do something so you don't get left behind, and do whatever it takes for your eye health.

Every activity and action we do for our health is the biggest investment for our future.

Thank you for reading.

I have the hyssop that my sisters gave me for my eyes as I'm always with the screen. They were worried so 3 times a week I just give my eyes 3 drops and it feels better after. It can also cure any eye problems like cataract.

Cataract is an eye disease that mostly occurs in advanced ages, unless an accident or direct blow to the eye is taken. I haven't thought about it yet, but it's good that you take precautions and take precautions. I hope you don't have any problems.

I've been spending a lot of time in front of the computer for the last 9 months. At least 10 hours a day. Recently, my eyes have increased itching and stinging. I already wear glasses, but I don't know to what extent the protection is because my glasses are old. From now on, I will take frequent breaks and blink a lot on the balcony :)

This wink thing wasn't something I knew either. It's actually a very minor detail and a useful piece of information. After my doctor, I did my own research, it was the information I confirmed. Just for this reason, I bought glasses around 140 dollars at the current exchange rate. Actually, it wasn't an expense I thought of, but sometimes necessity makes us do everything.
